Sweet Stampin' ~ Feminine Cards

Hey crafty friends, we have a new challenge starting at Sweet Stampin' and this week, we're hoping to see your Feminine Cards. It's Mothering Sunday in the UK on March 30th, so it's a perfect time to share our lovely Feminined themed cards. I'm sharing a card for this challenge, that I made for my mummy's bestie to send to a friend. She had been home to Scotland over Christmas and wanted to send a card to her friend who had her stay during her trip home as a thank you.

I had made a card for Mum's friend and she'd loved it so much, she asked me to make one for her friend back in Scotland. She was really pleased with what I created and loved the sentiment choices, inside and out. I used a lovely stamp set from Whimsy Stamps called Distant Friends. I used VersaFine Clair Nocturne Ink to get the lovely dark black crisp stamping of the sentiments. My 'go to' favourite ink for sentiment stamping.

I used some lovely hues of ink from the Catherine Pooler collection. These ones are from her Spring Fling Party Collection set. When I was stencilling the flowers, I did a light layer of colour all over the blooms and then came back with either a darker hue or the same ink, but with a darker application in select areas to add some depth and interest to the blooms. I love the way these colours work together. So very pretty. I stamped the design in Betterpress Saffron ink, to give it a slightly different, retro, vintage vibe. I absolutely love how this looks and I'm really pleased with the result after the ink was applied with the stencil.

I used Bristol Smooth paper for the base and the inks just blend on this like butter. So easy to blend and spread the ink. I used a simple stitched frame to diecut the image, then added it to a panel of Concord ad 9th Cardstock in the colour Eggplant, which I'd trimmed, just slightly larger than an A2 card base. I added it to a top folding A2 card base and then added some shimmery silvery highlights with a metallic pen. I added these details where I think the staymen would have had little pollen heads and some gold detailing along the leaves of the stamped stems.

I took the shot above angled toward the window light, to try and get the shiny accents to show, so draped a bit of cloth over a background, forgive the clashing patterns! But it shows far better at this angle, than my top down photo in the very top of the post. I hope you like this creation. I was really happy with how it came together and especially happy when my mum's bestie was so delighted with it. She was very excited to send this to her friend back in Scotland.

Thanks for popping in to visit today. I hope you're able to come and join us for our Special Women Challenge at Sweet Stampin'. Happy Mothering Sunday to all my British friends tomorrow. I may not be celebrating Mother's Day with you anymore, because we celebrate in May here in New Zealand, but it's my birthday tomorrow, so I'll be celebrating that! Lovely lunch planned with the kiddos and my beautiful mummy, so will feel a bit like Mother's Day anyway! Do stop by the challenge to check out what my talented teamies got up to for this challenge, they always bring something fun and different to the table. See you again soon with another crafty adventure. Hugs, Wends xoxo

(I share thumbnails to the elements I design with in order to make your search for them easier, in case you like something I've used. I do use affiliate links where possible, which gives me a tiny commission but costs you no extra whatsoever. It helps the companies I design for to improve their marketing practice and track my contributions. I am deeply grateful if you use them for these reasons. I am proud to design for the companies I do and always feel happy to share where my inspiration and where my crafty stash comes from. I am occasionally gifted products to use, but I only design for companies whose products I absolutely love and buy for myself. My opinions are always my own.)
