Whimsy Stamps ~ CAS Easter Card

Hey crafty friends, I've a CAS creation to share with you today using a super cute sentiment set from Whimsy Stamps and an adorable character stamp set. I've coloured the characters with my Copic Markers and used one of my Tsukineko Kaleidacolor Ink Sets to stamp the multicolour sentiment.

I kept the design really clean and simple, with the OmbrĆ© inked sentiment and a cute little pair of characters and the creation was done! Since I'd not used black for the sentiment, I didn't want to have heavy black lines for the images, so I stamped them in lighter coloured inks for more of a 'no lines' effect. The little chick busting out of his egg, I stamped in Memento Desert Sand, so I could colour the egg in hues that would work for a softer edge and finish for that lil guy. The surprised bunny I stamped in Memento Peanut Brittle, so I could give him a brown fur finish. Memento Ink is Copic Marker friendly, so any colours of Memento can be used to stamp images for Copic colouring. I'm enjoying venturing into these slightly more 'no lines' finishes.

The cool ombrĆ© sentiment I can claim no fancy tricks for, I haven't used several passes with different ink colours, I've just used a Kaleidacolor Ink pad and stamped a couple of times to get good coverage. I really enjoy using these inks, they're such a clever concept and I know they've been around for ages, but I've really got into them lately, especially finding a good supplier here in New Zealand.

As you can see from the ink pad cover, there's a wonderful spread of pinky purple hues that bring this fun ombrƩ effect to the sentiment. The ink pads are separated by a clever clip system, so they don't bleed ink into each other during storage, but snap together when doing the stamping. Such a clever and fun design!

For those of you who enjoy seeing the Copic Marker colour combinations, I used the E50 family on the egg, the E40's on the bunny and then I used R20, R22 and R000 on the pink accents of the bunny, it was a little too salmon pink compared to the sentiment, so I pinked the accents up by using R83 and R81 over top. I didn't snap a pic of the orange accents, but I can tell you I used YR07 and YR04. It was a teeny space, so two markers was enough.

Finishing touch was to add a pretty toning envelope. I needed to fill out an Amazon order recently to get free shipping and ended up trying some A2 coloured envelopes. I'm very happy with these, they're lovely heavyweight envelopes, well made and with peel and stick closure. Everything I appreciate in a coloured envelope. My card is very clean and simple, I'm sure you'll agree, much more-so than is normal for me, but I really love it! I'm sure it will make my sweet niece smile that I'll be giving this to. I'm still trying to catch up a few makes after spending the weekend helping a family member ahead of a big house move, so I hopefully will be back very soon with another creation. Until then, happy Easter crafting. Hugs, Wends xoxo
