Whimsy Stamps ~ Easter Notelets
Hey crafty friends, I will be crazy busy over Easter helping my little sister shift house. So I'm not going to be around much. But I've prepped these lovely Easter notelets for family and wanted to share this idea with you. I wish you all a blessed and beautiful Easter and hope you have a restful time that refills your cup.
I've used several beautiful sets from Whimsy for these makes. But my starting point was some of my fun Slimline Dies with gorgeous shapes. I pulled out three, one was the Military Bunting Die Set, which gives a really lovely rounded base when folded and another was the Slimline Victorian Layers Die Set, which has the lovely shaped sides and base. The third one which you see with the stitched sides, I realised was a retired die after I'd finished making the set. I should have remembered, but I've been crafting on the fly and it just slipped by me. So full disclosure, that particular die is the retired Slimline Cornered Rectangles Die Set, which has squared off corners and a lovely stitched edge. You'll see the corners in the image I took to show the masking for the inked background.
This notelet is the Military Bunting Die Set folded in half and I paired a sentiment with it, that I snuggled down into that rounded base shape so nicely! The sentiment for this notelet is from the Stained Glass Scripture Sentiments Clear Stamps Set. I used a lovely dark grey from my stash, it's from Gordon Harris an art store here in New Zealand and the colour of the cardstock is called Smoke Grey. I stamped the sentiment with a lovely ink that matched the cardstock well. It is the Morning Mist VersaFine Clair Ink. For a bit of contrast and interest, I used Spellbinders Raven Black Cardstock from their latest Colorwheel paper release to diecut the lovely Easter Hill die from Whimsy's Savior Die Set. The Gordon Harris Smoke Grey Cardstock was light enough, I just wrote directly on it for one of my sister's for Easter.
I love the sentiment 'Easter Blessings', and the sweet Easter Bunnies Clear Stamps Set had such a pretty script sentiment that said just this. So I used the Morning Mist VersaFine Clair ink to stamp again. I used the darker grey cardstock from Gordon Harris to diecut the Easter Hill scene, but went for the lighter coloured Dove Grey Cardstock from Concord and 9th for the lovely Slimline Victorian Layers Die Set base. I just love the shape of this die and it's fab folded as a notelet like this! Very easy to diecut the size down for the stacked layers and you could line the inside this way too, but. The grey is quite pale, so can easily be written straight on. This was the first of the designs I made, so I was just playing with the ink application at this stage. But trying to stay above the hill diecut and just give a gentle blend of colour above the hill scene.
I freehand trimmed a strip of Mint Tape from Scrapbook.com, which is my 'go to' tape for masking as they do several different widths and it's fab. I used this to add the colour just where I wanted it and nowhere else. I love using my Whimsy Blending Brushes for jobs like this, the soft bristles add just the right touch of colour. I use Gina K's colour clips to mark my brushes colours, but it's pretty easy to tell with the colour on the heads too. You can see in the pic above, the shape of the edges of the third card with the stitched detailing. This is the retired die, but you can still get it via some Whimsy Stamps Retailers. A really lovely slimline die shape and it worked well for these notelets.
I'm so pleased with how these pretty notelets came together and I think I'll be pulling out some more of my slimline dies to see how many more I can use for this technique. I think the little notelets were a nice touch with Easter treats. You can see the pretty floral Lindt bunny I bought for one of my sister's as it was her birthday on Easter Sunday and I gave her one of the notelets to go with it.
We've had two fabulous releases in April, our most recent one is live today and full of Mother and Father's Day feels and Hero Vibes. Well worth checking out!
