Whimsy Stamps ~ Cauldron Kitty
Hey crafty friends, I'm back with another Halloween creative adventure. This time, with a curious black cat, peeking over a cauldron of bubbly brew! I've used a tactile treat on this one, by cutting the kitty from a specialty flock cardstock. It's fuzzy and so lovely up close.
I've used lots and lots of fabulous Whimsy Stamps products in this creation. A while back one of the members of Whimsy Stamps Inspiration Facebook Group said they'd never tried making a shaker card before, as the idea daunted them, so this make was made with them in mind. I've created a little step through video that shares this creative process, which you can see below or click through to watch on YouTube.
The adorable kitty is the Peeking Kitty Die Set from Whimsy Stamps. I've cut the eyes and ears from white cardstock and coloured them with Copic Markers, I'll add a photo below with the Copic Colours I used for this. I put some sellotape behind the main diecut which was cut from the Doodlebug Beetle Black Crushed Velvet flock texture cardstock and then added the coloured eyes and ears back in place, over the sticky sellotape base.
The fabulous background paper is from Whimsy's BOOkeh Paper Pack, which I diecut the Curly Frame from Whimsy out of to look like a plume rising up from the cauldron and filled with lots of fun shaker elements. I talk about these elements in my video, so I won't go through them here, but they are listed in the thumbnails at the foot of this post for quick reference. I talk about the Lime Tart Paper Glitz from Picket Fence Studios, which I use to add the cauldron goop, but what I don't mention in the video, is that I also added this to the Key Lime cardstock from Gina K, that I cut the Poof words from. This adds a fun bit of extra shimmer to that fabulous cardstock. The cauldron shape was cut using a set that has this die as a fishbowl. But I think it works a treat to create a cauldron. The set is called Kitty Cat Extras and is listed in the thumbnails below.
This adorable little kitty cat stole my heart when it was first released. I absolutely love this cutie and if you do too, be sure to check out some of the other creations made by the awesome Design Team at Whimsy Stamps. Their gorgeous creations are often shared as store promotional images, so check that out here. The last minute addition I made to this card, was to add a fun Shakespearean quote. I remembered we had a fun one on a Dustin Pike set which was a perfect match for this creation. "Double Double, Toil and Trouble, Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble". The sentiment only features the first half of the quote but I'm pretty sure most would know it to finish the rest in their mind and I love that little extra it adds to this piece. The video steps through a lot of what I've used in this creation and all the elements, are listed in the thumbnails below. We've had two awesome August releases including some fabulous new Halloween sets, so check that out via the banner below. We have a third release going live on August 20th, so be sure to join us then!
My teamies have been knocking it out of the park with their spookalicious creations, so I hope you've had a chance to visit their socials and see all the magic they're brewing up! If not, click through on my banner below, it will take you to the Whimsy Stamps Inspiration Post which has all the teams social media links. We have such a lot of fun planned for the season, so I hope you can join us over in the Whimsy Stamps Facebook Group too, which is where most of the magic is happening. I will be back soon with another crafty adventure, until then hugs and happy crafting, Wends xoxo

(I share thumbnails to the elements I design with in order to make your search for them easier, in case you like something I've used. I do use affiliate links where possible, which gives me a tiny commission but costs you no extra whatsoever. It helps the companies I design for to improve their marketing practice and track my contributions. I am deeply grateful if you use them for these reasons. I am proud to design for the companies I do and always feel happy to share where my inspiration and where my crafty stash comes from. I am occasionally gifted products to use, but I only design for companies whose products I absolutely love and buy for myself. My opinions are always my own.)
