Whimsy Stamps ~ Wicked Cute Halloween Scene
Hey crafty friends, I'm back with another beyond adorable Halloween scene. This paper is from the latest Whimsy Stamps release and it is AMAZING! There are several super cool Halloween and spooky themed scenes, but there are also some plain alcohol ink themed backgrounds in this paper pack. There are a lot of gorgeous colours in these papers including a lot of greens which I adore. So I am finding this set really dreamy! They're not just for Halloween either, with the mix of options in the set.
This adorable lil' minion is from the Wicked Cute Stamp Set from Whimsy Stamps. I pulled all the papers out and tried this cute lil' character against a few of the different papers. I have a video showing this process and sharing what these beautiful papers look like. I'll add the video link in when it's live, I'm just finishing the editing right now.
This sweet lil' character was such a joy to colour and I actually coloured him late one night, just playing with colours and getting some variance in hues. He wound up unintentionally very pumpkin like in his blend! But when my papers arrived and I held him up to them, there was an 'aha' moment and I knew he belonged in one of these scenes. I did make a note of the Copic colours I used, so will add these for those who like that information.
I tried out three different sentiment options and decided upon this version after trying a few different permutations. This sentiment comes from the Spirited Sentiments Stamp Set. You can see the other sentiment options I toyed with the idea of using in my video.
My final embellishment was to add the colony of bats flying across the moon. These were cut from the Bats and Bubbles Border Die Set from Whimsy Stamps. I only glued the bats in the middle, leaving their wings free to be bent up as if they are in flight. They can be pushed flat for posting, but look so fabulous in full flight with dimension in their wings.
I distressed the edges of the paper before adding it to my card base. The papers are 6x6 and the card base I had was a 7 inch square card base. So I trimmed a little off the edges, so I just had a tiny white border around the distressed edges of the paper. This grounded the white outline of the image into the scene better and with the big pale moon balanced everything out nicely. I added the sentiment and bats moving up from the left of the design where the wee character landed, so there was a sense of movement and flow up and to the right, to balance the design.
Whimsy has had its third release of August. Three wonderful releases this month! If you're a Halloween fan, let me tell you a lil' secret, you need to come back and see the September releases! Whimsy have outdone themselves yet again this year! It's a stellar line up for September! I cannot wait!! Thanks for visiting today friends. I love how this relatively quick make came together! I am totally adoring this paper pack and can't wait to make my next creation with this set! I've jumped the queue with this make, as I've made several already that are waiting to be shared, so there'll be a few of those before I share another with this set. I couldn't wait to share this one though, it's so fun! I'll be back with another crafty adventure very soon. Until then, have a creative and happy week. Hugs, Wends xoxo
(I share thumbnails to the elements I design with in order to make your search for them easier, in case you like something I've used. I do use affiliate links where possible, which gives me a tiny commission but costs you no extra whatsoever. It helps the companies I design for to improve their marketing practice and track my contributions. I am deeply grateful if you use them for these reasons. I am proud to design for the companies I do and always feel happy to share where my inspiration and where my crafty stash comes from. I am occasionally gifted products to use, but I only design for companies whose products I absolutely love and buy for myself. My opinions are always my own.)
