Simon Says Stamp ~ Card Kit ~ Thinking of You

Hey crafty friends, I'm popping in with a card I made for my mum to give to a friend. She loves purple shades, so when I saw the papers in this card kit, I knew it would be easy to put together a beautiful heartfelt card for her.

I used two of the beautiful papers from that card kit and cut the gold striped one into a square a little smaller than my 5½ square card base. I used the Whimsy Stamps Sprinkles Scallops Rectangle Die Set to cut the image panel. It gives such a pretty edge to this panel and a nice delineation between the papers. I popped up the panel on a thin foam to give just a touch of dimension between the layers. I stamped and heat embossed in gold, one of the beautiful blooms from the stamp set onto the soft rainbow hues paper and then I took two of my Zig Real Brush Markers and coloured in the image over the patterned paper.

I matched the paper to areas behind it that would have toning hues, so the flower would build on those hues rather than fight them. I'm so pleased with how this worked. I used a Zig blender to move the colour around and lift the colour in places to allow some highlights. But I used just these two pens, Moss Green - 402 for the leaves and Light Carmine - 021 for the petals. Quick and simple colouring, but I think this card came together so beautifully. I need to pull this kit out for another play soon. I don't have a lot of spare time to colour with my kits, but these have been gifts from my generous hubby for my birthday this and last year. I haven't got every kit released over the year, but I resonated with more of them this year than last, so have quite a few now, waiting for my attention!

This was the April 2024 Card Kit that I created this card from. So many beautiful elements in this kit. I've used the embossing folder a couple of times for other creations I've made for Mum to give to friends. I'll have to hunt down those makes to share. The Simon Say Stamp Card Kits are generous and I've ended up trying things I'd not have thought to before getting these. But I'm pretty ruthless about skipping kits that aren't my cup of tea and it's so nice that Simon Says Stamp lets you do this. There were only a couple this past year that I didn't love. They are pretty consistently gorgeous!

This post is just for me, to catch up on some unshared posts I have accumulating so there's not much else to say. You can click through on the image that had the card kit contents if you'd like to check out other sets from that year. Skip forward a page to this years kits or click here. It was my brother's 50th Birthday today, so it was him I was thinking about most of today! My mum and one of my sisters went with me to take him birthday lunch. He was the invigilator for one of the college's he teaches at today. So it was a pre-prepared but yummy lunch and a quick hug from us all before he went back to his exam week work. Our daddy died at 56, so we take no year for granted and though it was fleeting, it was lovely to take him birthday lunch. My son also has exams this week, so it's full on with end of year prep and exams right now. Thanks for visiting today, I hope you like this lovely Thinking of You themed card. I'll be back soon with another crafty adventure. Until then, have a beautiful week. Hugs, Wends xoxo
