Tim Holtz ~ Gentlemen
Hey crafty friends, a quick post from me tonight to share a birthday card I made for my 'bonus son'. This kiddo is so adored and is big brother to my younger two. I haven't blogged this card yet, even though I made it for his last birthday, so thought I'd share it tonight. I enjoyed pulling out some of my Tim Holtz Die sets to find pieces to pull together for this creation. I had an old embossed panel from years ago, which I'd used a cool black panel to emboss on and made a fun dramatic backdrop for the design. I haven't the energy to go hunting through my embossing folders box tonight. So I'll update the details soon. I think this is a really old Darice Embossing Folder from memory.
I pulled out some newer to me stash to create this card, I used the Sizzix Thinlits Gentlemen Dies, by Tim Holtz to diecut the central character. I've wanted this die set for a while, it's a classic for the lads. So I was glad to pick it up last year to add to my classic stash. I also used the Vault Picture Show die set from Sizzix and Tim Holtz to add those fun film strip and view-master reel elements. This is such a fun set and one I was so happy to see re-released in the vault release last year. I seem to have come to the 'Tim Holtz' party quite late in my crafting journey, but I've got the bug now! So it was pure delight to see so many classics I'd wanted come back in that vault release.
I kept the card pretty simple for my eldest boyo. Layers to hint at shared stories and memories, his move into adulthood and a sentiment of encouragement to always expect the best from life. So proud of this kiddo and love him dearly. Not much else to say about this card, the view-master wheel is backed with vellum and I added a twist of lovely sparkly Gütermann thread behind the sentiment for a bit of texture and interest. I used a corner rounder to add some interest to the sentiment panel. This is a pre-printed sentiment from my stash. I'll hunt down the company and update those details soon too.
(I share thumbnails to the elements I design with in order to make your search for them easier, in case you like something I've used. I do use affiliate links where possible, and so appreciate if you use these when shopping. They cost you no extra whatsoever. I am proud to design for the companies I do and always feel happy to share where my inspiration and where my crafty stash comes from. I am occasionally gifted products to use, but I only design for companies whose products I absolutely love and buy for myself. My opinions are always my own.)
