Whimsy Stamps ~ Dreaming of Summer
Hey crafty pals, we've had more rain today, honestly, it's been the wettest Winter I ever recall here in New Zealand and there is flooding in several places around the country. We've not been badly affected, but it has made me long for the season change and some Summer sun! So I'm creating again with that in mind.
I stamped the fish in dark green ink and then coloured them with my Copic Markers. I used a white gel pen to go over the eyes and then used a black gel pen to add the dark centre back in. This just makes those features look better, as they are often paled out or coloured over in a smaller canvas like this. This Fancy Fish set from Whimsy Stamps has so many beautiful fish in it and they can be coloured up in several different ways giving them quite unique looks.
I added a sentiment in black, which I chose rather than white, as I didn't want it to be overly obvious, so that the focus remained on the fish. But after stamping it, I decided I wanted it to have a little sparkle on it, so I wrote over it with a sparkle gelly roll pen. It looks quite flat here in the photo, but in reality it's sparkly and shimmers in the light. Still with a darker finish so as not to take over, but with a bit of added interest.
This last photo shows nicely the dimensional effect the slimline die adds to this creation. I popped the different layers up first the main layer up one depth, then the postage stamp central layers up on a second layer of foam for double dimension. I just love what this simple effect adds to the card. Two of the fish, I added straight over the postage stamp layer, but the third fish I popped up again with foam circles. Quite a dimensional creation in the end, so I'll keep this for a hand delivered card rather than posting.
Thanks for visiting my blog today, I wish you a lovely day and will see you again very soon with another crafty adventure, so watch this space, it's almost the end of the month, which means our challenge at Whimsy in our Facebook Group will be wrapping up soon and of course we're heading into one of the favourite seasons for a lot of the Whimsy crew, our Fall and Halloween season. I LOVE the 'too cute to spook' Halloween stamps from Whimsy and they've just released their first Halloween stamps for this season and they do not disappoint! It's going to be a really fun Fall and Halloween Season this year at Whimsy! See you again soon xoxo

I receive a small commission, which costs you no extra, but helps these companies see where their marketing efforts are most effective from their DT and for me helps towards the higher cost of postage to New Zealand. I only design for companies whose products I love and buy for myself. My opinions are always my own. If you're new to Whimsy Stamps, please feel free to use the discount code in my sidebar.)
