Whimsy Stamps ~ Wedding Belle
Hey crafty pals, I'm back with a slightly different creation today. I was looking at the very cool Whimsy Stamps Slimline Hourglass Die wanting to create something a little different with it, when I realised I could use it to create an hourglass figure of sorts. I decided to create a wedding dress, using just past one half of the die and one of the sand falling parts of the die to create part of the top of the dress.
I used some really pretty satin bound organza ribbon to wrap around the lower half of the die to create the skirt part of the wedding dress and then used an older heart die from Whimsy Stamps to create the second part of the bodice of the dress. I love how the two parts worked together to create the bodice. I remember seeing on the catwalk a similar styled dress as part of a New Zealand Fashion Week creation, which had what looked like a rather fancy but uncomfortable extra part across the bodice, style over function! So I channelled that dress in this creation, because the sand falling part of the die reminded me of that dress. I really like how it came together.
I wanted to try adding some pearls and other embellishments, but it honestly looked nicer and more elegant left plain, so I opted only to add a little gold enamel bow at the waist from a My Mind's Eye Adhesive Enamel Shapes Set from their Jubilee Mint Julep range. I kept the papers very elegant and understated too, using an embossed cream cardstock and a lovely Coffee Cream coloured cardstock with a pretty sheen, which toned with the gold enamel bow I used at the waist. I used a pretty shaped mini slimline die behind the dress for a bit of interest and finished the card with a sentiment banner cut from another slimline die set and heat embossed in gold, the simple sentiment. I popped up the dress on foam before adding it to the base, so there was lots of fun dimension for this otherwise very understated card.
Wishing you a lovely weekend with sunshine, but not too much heat! It's warming up here, we've had lots of fog the last few mornings, which has turned into beautiful Spring days. So I'm enjoying the early season change. I love the temperate seasons! Spring and Autumn are my favourites. Thanks for visiting my blog today, see you again soon. Hugs and happy crafting xoxo
