Whimsy Stamps ~ We DARE you Deb, Halloween Instagram Hop
Hey friends, we're having an Instagram Hop in honour of our lovely Creative Director Deb Davis over at Whimsy Stamps. Deb is the creative genius behind a great many Whimsy stamp and die sets and her vision is never brighter than when she's designing for Halloween. It's Deb's favourite holiday of the year! As a lot of you will know, Whimsy Stamps owner Denise and Deb, were both very badly affected by Hurrican Ian. The death toll from the hurricane is over 100 now and we're all so incredibly grateful that Denise, Deb and their families are alive and well. But the devastation has been awful and this has resulted in Whimsy having to cancel their planned Halloween festivities this year, which we all look forward to so much. In light of this, the entire DT have rallied around to create some amazing events in lieu of the cancelled events. There are prizes and the most amazing creations being shared by Whimsy's wildly talented DT from the awesome video team, through to the two teams I'm involved with, the wonderful Treasures Team and our fabulous Digital Design Divas. There are several hops and wonderful events to follow, so be sure to stop over on the Whimsy Stamps Inspiration Blog to check them all out! Here I'm sharing my contributions for the IG hop celebrating our wonderful Deb and all the joy and genius she brings to the Whimsy Stamps brand and family. We love you Deb!
I've created some Halloween décor to welcome our little Trick or Treaters this year, so they know there's a safe place to visit for some candy fun. This door sign will hang on our front door for Halloween. It's made of wood and I've simply coloured it with alcohol ink markers, but in retrospect, paint would have been a better choice, as there was some ink bleeding in places, but overall, I got away with it! This was done while I was still running a fever, so don't scrutinise too closely!
This second 'wall sign', is just for fun, a silly play on words I couldn't resist. I had created the sentiment part of this last year and not used it, but still had it in my drafts. So when I came across Dustin Pikes Witchy Toad, with essentially exactly the same sentiment, I knew I was onto something! I used the Whimsy Stamps Brick Stencil and Halloween Creatures Stencil to add the bricks and bats. Matted the panel simply with some orange cardstock, added some white eyelets with my Crop-A-Dile punch and finished it with some cool tri-coloured bakers twine in Halloween colours. I know I'll be pulling this one out every year now. The image by Dustin was coloured with Copic Markers.
Now I know I've been sharing a lot of Halloween 'Treat Boxes' and containers, but I still had more ideas! So here is yet another variety of Halloween treat containers featuring the American Halloween favourite, Candy Corns. Whimsy has a really fun range of Candy Corn stamp sets, several by Krista Heij-Barber. I adore her sweet and whimsical wee characters and these Candy Corns just make me smile! So I've based my latest treat sets around her cute characters. I've used the fabulous little box die that Deb created to make three little boxes in yellow, orange and white and decorated them with elements from various Whimsy paper, die and stamp sets. The larger 'popcorn' box was one I had left over from a party and thought this would make a larger slightly more substantial treat box for that special person (my little boy) who will enjoy opening this on Halloween night. I had used that fun Pulled Taffy paper from Whimsy to back the little images on the boxes, so turned one of the sheets using that same design into a little treat pouch too. I used an older Whimsy Die with an octagonal shape on both the Popcorn Box and the little Treat Pouch.
Deb and I are two ends of the Halloween spectrum. Deb loves all the Zombie, classic horror movie fun of Halloween, I on the other hand am a totally fraidy cat and can only do the 'too cute to spook' Halloween fun, but I adore it, and I adore HER! So I hope you've enjoyed my Halloween tributes to my lovely mate Deb. Wishing you a Halloween full of spooky fun Deb! Thanks friends for popping in to visit, I'll be back before long with another crafty adventure, but until then, Happy Halloween!
