Whimsy Stamps ~ So Deeply Sorry

Hey friends, it seems the older I get, the more of these types of cards I need. Circle of life I guess, but it doesn't make it any easier, so I find it's good to have one or two sympathy cards in my stash for when they're needed. This one I made and sent a while back, but didn't want to post here on my blog, as the friend I sent it to was crafty and I didn't want it to be so fresh at the time of posting. 

I opted to 'no lines' colour this beautiful image from the Sympathy So Deeply Sorry Clear Stamps set from Whimsy, as I wanted a softer look. I actually stamped the image in a really soft green Memento ink called New Sprout for the whole image, just coloured over with the purple too, which gave the edges a smokey grey tinge. I'm so happy with it, as I'm not overly confident with 'no lines' colouring and love how this turned out.

I personally like to keep a Sympathy card very simple and pared back, nothing too busy and use limited embellishments, so the beautiful softly watercoloured striped paper from the Fabulous Florals Paper Pack was a lovely backdrop for the image. I added interest with two frame dies. I used the Wavy Rectangles Die Set to cut the patterned paper and I used another lovely die, the Notched Rectangles Die Set to cut the image panel. The background cardstock my card base is made out of is a lovely shimmer finish black cardstock. So I mounted the two panels on foam, for a bit of depth and dimension and added them to the card base. I stamped the sentiment from the same set as the flower, in black ink directly to the image panel and then completed the card with a very simple embellishment of 3 toning pearls from my stash in the top right hand corner.
