Whimsy Stamps ~ Good, Good, Good, Good Vibrations
Hey crafty friends, I am back with three creations to share today, as I'm catching up a little after taking some down time with family over the weekend celebrating and remembering my beautiful daddy who would have been 80 last Friday. It's awful to think we have had 23 birthdays without him and this 'big' birthday felt all the more raw. So blessed to have my beautiful mummy with us still and we truly celebrate that fact!! But today, I'm bringing you three creations using some of the New Release elements from our first September release. It's such a fun one and I really wanted to catch up a bit and share my silly fun with these sets. So here is my first card of the three. The other two will follow shortly.
I shared a reel on Instagram and used the music 'Good Vibrations' from the Beach Boys, which captures the fun and silly vibe I was going for with this card. I imagined the scene with two old dears sitting up having a chin wag after '40 winks', roused by the noise of children celebrating Halloween. I was looking for sentiment sets to help me stitch together something along the lines of 'allo luv', 'it's 'alloween again innit?!' Yes, in my head they're Cockney! After years of living in London, some of those years, just off Brick Lane, these were the accents in my head! Hehe. I did say it was a silly card right?!
I didn't find sentiments with those options, that fit the speech bubbles easily, so segued to working with the sets above and think it turned out equally fun. I cut the speech bubbles from white cardstock, which was way too stark for this night scene, so grunged them up a bit with some Walnut Stain distress ink and roughly sponged with a sponge dauber for a bit of muddy texture. Speaking of texture, inspired by the amazing Tami Bastiaans, I used some Distress Grit Paste Crypt to create the texture around their bodies, on the tombstones and the stone pillars of the graveyard entrance. It worked a treat to bring the vision of my scene to life. It looked nothing before adding those little subtle details!
The rest of our talented Whimsy teams have worked magic with this New Release and here are some examples of their gorgeous creations. Be sure to check out the release in store for extra examples of their gorgeous work. See if you can spot our amazing Creative Director Deb Davis in the line up too. Halloween is her favourite time of year and she just couldn't resist joining in the Halloween fun with us, for which we are truly thankful, because her designs so totally rock! You can click through to the store for the full release by clicking the banner above or to specific elements via the thumbnails below. I'll try to pop back tomorrow with some extra pics, but want to get the other cards posted too, so will leave this post here for now. Hugs and happy crafting, Wends xoxo
(I use affiliate links where possible, which helps the companies I design for to improve their marketing practice. I receive a small commission, which costs you no extra whatsoever, but helps these companies see where their marketing efforts are most effective and is a way they can say 'thank you' to their affiliates and design team members. I only design for companies whose products I absolutely love and buy for myself. My opinions are always my own. If you're new to Whimsy please feel free to use the Whimsy Stamps discount code in my sidebar if you're doing some shopping and remember to check out their retiring section, the deals are phenomenal!)
