Whimsy Stamps ~ Home Sweet Haunted Home
Hey crafty friends, we are almost mid way through our fun and fabulous Whimsy Stamps Halloweeners term and I've another New Release creation to share with you today, as we have another release that has gone live tonight! I must say I had such fun creating this and was deeply inspired and led by the amazing paper that is in this release. I mean, seriously fantastic!
This card came together pretty quickly and as I said I was heavily inspired by this amazing paper. Our talented Creative Director at Whimsy, Deb Davis and our lovely Whimsy boss mama Denise Lynn, knocked it outta the park with this release and especially with this incredible paper pack! Just look at the gorgeous grungy detail on this haunted house!
The elements released around this are also absolutely amazing, I've used two other elements from this release on this card. The gorgeous slimline shape, which so reminds me of The Nightmare Before Christmas scenes and I'm sure was inspired by this, was such a cool fit for this card too. I've a slightly different idea in my head for this die, which I cannot wait to try, so watch for that! I cut the slimline frame from a lovely textured shiny black paper, which has such a cool deeply ridged texture and adds a lovely finish to this card.
I used two characters from a shadow die set too, the witch flying in the sky, (which how cool is that by the way?!) The perfect size to be the distant witch flying in front of the moon! I've added some sparkle to her, which doesn't show here, but it's there! The Grim Reaper character was cool to tuck off to the side there too, a daunting, haunting figure! I gotta tell ya, you need to see Deb Davis card using the Grim Reaper too, because I totally stole this idea from her and she smashed it outta the park with all her incredible makes for our Halloween season, so watch for that, which will be in the store example makes, I'll link the banner to the release below for easy access. Deb doesn't often have time to create with the releases, but Halloween is her favourite time of year and this was such a cool release, she's created quite a number of amazing inspiration pieces for us! So that's a real treat.
Here's the other side of the design with the detail of the sentiment, which actually has sparkle on the word Haunted, hard to capture this in a still, but will do a reel to show this at some stage. The wee ghosts and stars come from a fabulous This Calls For Confetti embellishment mix called Creepy Crawlers. There are fun webs and spiders in this set, but for this make, I wanted just to use the tiny ghosts and the beautiful iridescent stars. Now, if you know me, you'll know I love symmetry and I try to bring it into my makes as best I can, but this is not a symmetrical design, so to achieve a sense of this, you'll note there are 3 stars on the right side of the design and four ghosts. On the left side there are 4 stars and 3 ghosts. My attempt to bring balance and some degree of symmetry. It just makes me happy!
I didn't get a great shot of the stars glowing, as they don't glow long, but they appear to have some 'glow in the dark' feature as well, which is a fun little extra! Love that! I thought the ghosts might have glowed too, as I think they do in another TCFC set, but alas not in this one.
The Whimsy teams have created pure magic with this latest release and the samples above really showcase the new elements so well. You can even spot Deb's card in there, that I was talking about earlier. You can click through on the banner above to the store for more examples with each set. Thanks so much for popping in to visit, I appreciate each and every comment that is left and please know I read them all and try to visit as often as I can too. I will be back before long with another crafty adventure, but until then, have a wonderful week and I hope you have some fun crafty 'you' time too xoxo
(I use affiliate links where possible, which helps the companies I design for to improve their marketing practice. I receive a small commission, which costs you no extra whatsoever, but helps these companies see where their marketing efforts are most effective and is a way they can say 'thank you' to and support their hard working affiliates and design team members. I only design for companies whose products I absolutely love and buy for myself. My opinions are always my own. If you're new to Whimsy please feel free to use the Whimsy Stamps discount code in my sidebar if you're doing some shopping and remember to check out their retiring section, the deals are phenomenal!)
