Whimsy Stamps ~ Silhouette Sympathy Card

Hey crafty friends, I have been creating, but not had a lot of time to share, so sneaking in today, with a serene make I made for a friend who just lost their papa. It's almost 24 years since I lost my beautiful papa and they say time heals all wounds, but the truth is, the wound is still there, you just learn to live with it. There's no harder thing than losing a parent young or a child. Writing this I'm overcome with emotion. He is so missed. So you can imagine my heartbreak for my friend and I really wanted to create something beautiful to for her.

I masked off a rectangle on an A2 card panel to create the area I wanted to add the ink to. I used my Tim Holtz Deckle Edge Trimmer to cut the edge of the Mint Tape, so it created a more interesting edge to the design. I wanted something subtle and love how this worked out. Just enough of a detail whilst still keeping the design very serene and pared back. 

I ink blended the background working from the lightest ink in the top left corner down to the darkest ink in the bottom right. I wanted to create a feeling of light coming in from the sun after a long dark night and I absolutely adore how this colour blend came together. I did have a bit of an 'oopsie' when I did my sentiment stamping. There was a little thread of fibre, or fluff, probably from the cloth I'd cleaned the stamp with, but it was barely there and I really didn't want to cover the ink blending with a white cardstock with the sentiment on it, so chose to leave that imperfection as is. You may note, that I did a little extra hand drawing in of detials on the foliage on the right. I felt it just needed a tiny touch up after stamping, so just grabbed a black ink pen and drew in some extra finishes on the leaves and one extra blade of grass. I think it finishes it perfectly. I had trouble with lighting after doing this extra detailing, so the final pic is a little washed out, the first pic shows the truest hues of the ink blend.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my process with this CAS sympathy card. I really love how the ink blending came out and my Mum saw this card and immediately wanted a set of these! So I'm glad I kept the masking strips! She loved it since I'd used her favourite colour for the cardstock and ink blending! The beautiful deep rich purple cardstock is Eggplant from Concord and 9th. I think this colour palette really does work well for a sympathy card.
