Sweet Stampin' ~ Use A Stencil

Hey crafty friends, we are kicking off a new challenge today at Sweet Stampin' and this time we are looking for your makes which feature the use of a stencil. I have been loving working with stencils this year both for backgrounds and for colouring coordinating stamp sets. I am a big fan of the lovely sets that Pinkfresh Studio released last year. The abundance of lovely florals, I was really spoilt for choice and have picked up a few of my favourites.

I created this card for a family member who lost their beloved husband. I wanted something soft and floral and heartfelt to share with them. I stamped the floral spray in a warm brown ink for a softer finish than black would have given. I also stamped the sentiment in brown to tone with this. I used Memento Rich Cocoa Ink to stamp the floral spray, but I switched to VersaFine Clair Pinecone Ink to stamp the sentiment.

I've combined elements from different companies for this make. The sentiment is from a lovely stamp set from Whimsy Stamps called Sympathy Silhouette Clear Stamps. The background I ink blended from the lower right corner of the cardstock towards the top right just a little from the bottom and on the right side. I then used a stencil with the same colour to add a little detail and interest behind the floral spray to anchor the design. I added some silver glitter gelly roll details to the flowers and some glitter brush marker to the centre of the larger flowers.

I cannot recall exactly the inks I used for these, but I know the background pink was Kitsch Flamingo. I am pretty sure the inks I used were Altenew Ink Cubes as they're the best colour match for what I see in the image. Looks like I used Moss and Olive for the leaves. The blues are Sea Glass, Ocean Waves, Dusk and Desert Night. The pinks were Altenew's Rose Quartz and Puffy Heart. I diecut the floral spray after colouring and popped it up with some foam for a bit of dimension.

I decorated the inside of the card too, yes, I've been watching Amy Rysavy videos again! I love the way she always decorates the inside of her cards and I think it's lovely to do this, especially for a special make. I've used a beautiful stamp set from Whimsy Stamps for the sentiment. The card base is a large square one, with a beautiful shimmer in a pearlescent white. I'm pretty sure from memory, it's a 6x6 size. I have a lot of card bases this size from my London days. It was a very common card size in the UK.

I hope you can come and join our 'Use a Stencil' challenge. We'd love to see what you're inspired to create with stencils. I'll be back soon with another crafty adventure, until then, I wish you a wonderfully creative week. Hugs, Wends xoxo

(I share thumbnails to the elements I design with in order to make your search for them easier, in case you like something I've used. I do use affiliate links where possible, which gives me a tiny commission but costs you no extra whatsoever. It helps the companies I design for to improve their marketing practice and track my contributions. I am deeply grateful if you use them for these reasons. I am proud to design for the companies I do and always feel happy to share where my inspiration and where my crafty stash comes from. I am occasionally gifted products to use, but I only design for companies whose products I absolutely love and buy for myself. My opinions are always my own.)
