Whimsy Stamps ~ Birthday Card featuring Cardstock Warehouse Papers
Hey crafty friends, I'm sneaking in a 'non-Halloween' make today, as it was recently one of my kiddos birthdays and I created this fab card for them featuring some of the lovely Cardstock Warehouse papers we were provided with to use in September and October. I've wanted to use this gorgeous green as it's such a fun hue and when I was hunting through papers for the design I had in my head, I spotted this on my table and thought it would be rather perfect!
I've used Whimsy Stamps fabulous Happy Birthday Coverplate Die for this design. I trimmed one of the Bookeh papers down to just slightly bigger than an A2 card panel, so it would frame the design. Then I diecut the coverplate die one from black cardstock and once from the gorgeous green cardstock from Cardstock Warehouse. I love the way the Bookeh paper and the green play off each other. A really fun pairing!
The coverplate die is absolutely perfect on its own, but I had a stamp set nearby that caught my eye, which had some party hats on it, so I coloured a couple up with Copic Markers in reds and toning greens and added them to the card for a little extra interest. I didn't add bling because it's a boys card, so I kept it pretty zen. But I absolutely love it and so did he, which was awesome!
I have used the red glitter that I coloured for my 'Widow of the Web' creation to add some detail to the party hats. I wasn't going to at first, but thought it would be cute since I wasn't adding any other bling and I love how it turned out.
The beautiful heavyweight cardstock I've used for the coverplate die in this creation is from Whimsy's lovely sponsors for September and October, Cardstock Warehouse. This is such a lovely cardstock, it's the Chartreuse cardstock from their Colorplan range. I added a matte metallic cardstock as a shadow matt behind the chartreuse. I used a lovely Spellbinders Onyx cardstock from their Treasured Cardstock Collection. I trimmed off the left hand edge, so it didn't show past the left border of the chartreuse. Just a little added touch for interest and dimension.
We had a wonderful promotion for World Cardmaking Day over in the Whimsy Stamps Facebook Group. There was a lovely free image on offer, it still is, but for a very limited time, so if you missed that head on over and grab your copy. It's a cutie!
We also have had the first Christmas release of October at Whimsy and there is a super lovely paper pack, some cheeky and fun stamp sets and some more ticket elements, which I'm so excited about, plus a really lovely coverplate texture plate, so my wishlist is maxed out again! I'll be back again with another Halloween make very soon, until then, I wish you an enchanting week. Hugs, Wends xoxo
NB: I share thumbnails to the elements I design with in order to make your search for them easier, in case you like something I've used. I do use affiliate links where possible, and so appreciate if you use these when shopping. They cost you nothing extra whatsoever. I am proud to design for the companies I do and always feel happy to share where my inspiration and where my crafty stash comes from. I am occasionally gifted products to use, but I only design for companies whose products I absolutely love and buy for myself. My opinions are always my own.
