Whimsy Stamps ~ Phone Shaped Bookmark

Hey friends, I'm back with a quick make that I created to go with one of the pressies I was giving for the family birthdays on the 27th. I love giving books as gifts and what better thing to create to accompany that, than a handy bookmark?!

As you can see in the background, this was given with the rainbow card I shared previously. I think they made a really lovely combination. I used a fun die set from Whimsy Stamps which has a phone die in it. The perfect thing for this generation of teens! I wanted to add some sentiments that were encouraging and uplifting, so found two sets that I could combine to create the message I wanted. I used the fabulous Speech Bubbles die set from Whimsy to add the text detail on the front. But first, I needed a screen background image. I found the perfect one to give that 'phone background' feel, in the Glorious Sky Slimline Paper Pack from Whimsy. So I was all set! You may notice that I used the phone die upside down? I did this, so I could loop the string and charms through the bit where the 'button' sits. I punched the whole with a handheld punch and then added the eyelets on top from another Whimsy Set, to reinforce the hole.

I wanted to add another sentiment on the reverse side, which is from a lovely Whimsy sentiment set. It fit the size of the phone perfectly. I stamped it onto white cardstock which I then traced the outside of the phone die onto and trimmed with my guillotine trimmer. I used a corner rounder to create the rounded corners to match the die. I added a white eyelet to the back and black one to the front to reinforce the hole I'd punched, then strung some black twine through which I then added the charms to and twisted the twine to give a nice finished effect. Happily, the book and the bookmark were really well received!
