Whimsy Stamps ~ Rainbow Birthday

Hello crafty friends, I'm back with a bright, fun, birthday make today. We had two family birthdays yesterday and I made this set of cards with that in mind. I gave one yesterday and will reserve the other for a later date as my sister I'll give something floral to or perhaps something with a ski theme, as they're off to Canada to do some skiing!

This lovely rainbow panel I made a little while back, and popped to the side, knowing it needed the 'right' make to cut into this beautiful ink blend! So I was delighted when my coverplate die arrived from Whimsy and that 'aha' moment hit! It was perfect for a rainbow birthday theme! I had made this panel as part of an ink blending and splattering exercise during an Online Card Class. It was so fun to create and even more fun to find the perfect creation to use it on! Pic below, is the panel in my splat box after adding the splatter. You may recognise the other 'watermarked' panels from these two Christmas makes too, you can see them here and here.

I absolutely love, having cut into an ink blended panel which I was really happy with, that I got 'two for one' with this coverplate die! I created the first card, which was this rainbow panel, exactly as I wanted it, over the black base, to really intensify the rainbow colours. Then realised that the larger 'waste' pieces of the panel would be so easy to use on a second card, so a very easy 'two for one' set of creations!

The first panel I laid over black cardstock and adhered the rainbow panel with liquid glue, easy peasy and actually a very quick make once the die was run through. I absolutely love how this came out and didn't want to add a thing to this card, the rainbow and coverplate die made a striking card without anything extra needed. It fills an A2 card front completely edge to edge, which I absolutely love. It's bold and substantial.

For the 'offcuts' version of this card, I ran the coverplate die through again, but this time in black cardstock and then I adhered this down to a cardbase that was covered in double sided tape. I used the corner of my MISTI to ensure I added the diecut perfectly square to the sticky card base. Definitely a 'hold your breath' moment! Once that was stuck down and nicely in place, it was just a matter of puzzle piecing the 'offcuts' into place, which came together very quickly thanks to the double sided tape on the card base. It was such a lovely thing to put that last piece in and have that full rainbow effect a second time over!
