Whimsy Stamps ~ Floral Stairway Thank You Card

Hey crafty friends, I'm back with a really pretty watercoloured card I whipped up yesterday. My energy is returning and I'm feeling so much better, so I had a little play with some Distress Crayons. I've never used them before but had picked up a couple of sets with the intent of eventually having a play and yesterday I just felt like trying something different.

I absolutely love how the panel turned out! I used Fabriano Bristol paper for the image panel and then did a watercolour wash over the image. I used crayons with a bit of sparkle in them, so the finish in good light is so pretty. The stairs have a gentle shimmer over them and the flowers have a lovely bit of shine and sparkle. Not glittery per say, but just a pretty shimmer.

I used a palette and some watercolour brushes with a waterwell built in to them. I scribbled a bit of each colour into the wells on the palette and then added a squeeze of water from the waterbrushes and coloured from there. The copper colour I used for the 'stone stairs' was from the Metallics set of Crayons, which I believe was one of the earlier sets in this medium. I'm happy to have them, now that I've worked out how pretty the effects can be using them!

I used a gorgeous 'Thank You' die from Whimsy to complete the card. I diecut it from two layers of craft cardstock and then the lovely champagne coloured glitter cardstock and layered them up together for dimension. I diecut the image panel with the same lovely scalloped die I used for my previous card. The die was still out on my desk and I thought it would be equally lovely on this card. I wrapped the card with some thin May Arts Jute twine and added a little tiny rosebud flower to complete the card. I just love the rustic simplicity of those finishes on this card.

Whimsy is having the most amazing 'LAST CHANCE' sale right now. There are oodles of fantastic stamp and die sets in this sale, paper sets too! Well worth a look if you're a Whimsy fan like me! I do use affiliate links where possible, which gives me a tiny commission but costs you no extra whatsoever, though more importantly it helps the companies I design for to improve their marketing practice and track my contributions. I am deeply grateful if you use them for these reasons. I only design for companies whose products I absolutely love and buy for myself. My opinions are always my own.)

A lovely stamp Wends, the subtle colours are perfect with it. I've been toying with the idea of buying some distress crayons- resisted so far, but this isn't helping:).
Glad you're feeling better.
