Whimsy Stamps ~ Ancient and Awesome
Hey friends, I shared that I have Covid right now, but didn't share that my mumma also does! We were at a family party last weekend which seems the logical infection point. Such a shame as the party, in fact parties, for two little family members were fabulous! So not a fun outcome from that happy day. But at least we can chat and commiserate together about our symptoms. I had an interesting conversation with Mum who was worried about the 'older generation' being at greater risk of complications during Covid. Thing is, my mumma is amazing and still going strong at 81! She's out there doing her Tai Chi classes and rocking her senior years, she might be what some would classify as 'ancient', but in her own words, still feels like a 'Spring Chicken' most of the time. Honestly, with what she achieves in a week, she runs rings round most of us! So this card is for her, to bring a smile during her poorly days and remind her, she might feel a little ancient right now while she's poorly, but she's still awesome!
I used a very cool harlequin stencil to create the interest behind the image, ink blending some Distress Oxide ink in I think Peacock Feathers. (I'll double check once I'm out of isolation). I used this fabulous image from the last release, colouring it with Prismacolor Pencils and Gamsol as I wanted to use kraft for the card base. I'd not tried to colour with pencils on kraft before. It was fun! A very simple and quick design. I did have to mask the image to do the ink blending, which was the only time consuming bit as this set doesn't have Whimsy's fabulous NoFuss Masks for it. I'm so loving the sets that do! Makes things so easy peasy! The good news is, for the sets that don't have masks, Whimsy now sells their fabulous masking paper as blanks, so you can cut your own.
The Whimsy Team have put together a gorgeous collection of makes to showcase this latest release, here are a few of them above and I'll be back soon with another one I've made with the cutest stamp set very soon. Until then, I send you wishes for a wonderful week. Unbuggy hugs to you all, Wends xoxo
(I've added thumbnails to make your shopping easier if you like any of the elements I've created with. I do use affiliate links where possible, which gives me a tiny commission but costs you no extra whatsoever, though more importantly it helps the companies I design for to improve their marketing practice and track my contributions. I am deeply grateful if you use them for these reasons. I only design for companies whose products I absolutely love and buy for myself. My opinions are always my own.)
