Hogwarts Happiness

What a gorgeous happy moment for my little girl today. We've been waiting weeks for our container to arrive with all our creature comforts from the UK. Georgie has anticipated it's arrival especially so, because her birthday present was in there. We managed a trip to King's Cross station before we left the UK and had our Hogwart's Express photos taken, afterwards of course we had to take a visit to Diagon Alley and Ollivander's Wand Shop. Where Georgie picked the perfect wand for her. It was all incredibly exciting for my then not quite 8 year old, who is nutso for Harry Potter right now. So when we opened a box the other day and discovered her wand in it, I just knew I'd have to find some pieces from my craft stash and throw together a quick letter from Hogwarts before giving it to her, to mark this special occasion. I had the perfect stamp already from the fab talents of Christy Croll from TiddlyInks.

I coloured up the sweet 'Hermione' image Christy drew using my Promarkers and Flexmarkers and found some stash which went with it. I haven't uncovered all my stash yet, there's lots still in boxes, so I had to be creative with what I found. But I had some burgundy and gold quilling paper which I thought would work well to echo the colours of the Gryffindor scarf. I found my Glossy Accents, so the bubbles had a touch of that, but no glitter yet, so I used some 'fairy dust' of Georgie's I'd found. Not quite as sparkly as my glitter, but shinier in reality, than here in the picture. I also found the stamp I have with our family crest on it, which I thought worked well to suggest an official seal. The papers I used are Maja Design from their nautically inspired collection 'Life by the Sea'. I used the front and backside of the Nautic page design. Maja Design are my favourite designer papers and I love this particular paper pad lots. I was really blessed to be given several pads by one of my lovely British friends after she came back from a visit to Sweden. I was so excited when she gave them to me, it was like all my Christmases had come at once. Which is actually pretty much how my little girl looked today, when she collected her Hogwart's letter from the letter box out front. There was quite a bit of squealing and jumping up and down, she was so cute!

Here is the card I made, along with the formal envelope bottom right and the 'First Years' equipment list.

I happened to note just before making this card, that TiddlyInks are doing a 1-2-3 Challenge, so I kept this in mind when making up my card. I've used two sides of the same Maja Design paper and a neutral backing paper from Nitwits, so that's the '3' taken care of. I used two embellishments, the quilling strips and the star, which I coloured red with my berry flexmarker, as it was originally a pale green, so that's 2 embellishments and the 1, is the lovely TiddlyInks image itself. So the timing with that challenge was perfect for my wee girlie's card. Love it when that happens!

This is the 'First Year Student's Supply List' I whipped up

Georgie was so excited when she read the envelope and the supply list. All the specifics were poured over in great detail. Excellent reading practice! It was all very exciting for my baby girl. I have to confess to feeling pretty joyful myself to have been a part of creating that little magical moment for her.

Here's a few pics to share the excitement of the day:

Oh my goodness I would be running about squeeling with her!! This is amazing! I love how your mind works and how creative you are. Your daughter is going to remember this forever!!! I have poured over every image and adore the photo of going through the wall!! The closest I've come to Hogwarts is at Movie World when we could climb on the Hogwarts Express, and it was puffing smoke, and then visit a gorgeous Harry Potter themed shop full of owls, wands, chocolate frogs and so much more! Thanks so much for sharing your creations with me <3
