Sweet Stampin' - Love

Hey folks, time for our next challenge at Sweet Stampin'. Our theme this week is 'Love' and we are sponsored by the lovely ladies from the Ribbon Girl. Our lucky winner will be getting such a super treat! I know because I've won one of their gorgeous prizes before!!

I have made an Engagement card using some of my favourite papers. I have a thing for Gingham, Red Gingham in particular. So anytime I see it in a card I always am drawn to it, but don't use it that much myself, but when thinking of what to make for this happy event, I was drawn to these papers and to going with a CAS design, with a simple message. So I pulled out my red ink and found the 'right' sentiment for the job and after a bit of mounting and inking of edges, my work was done! Love that!! Sweet and simple.

Fab 'n' Funky - Button It!

It's time again for a new challenge from the Fab 'n' Funky Challenge and this time we are having fun with some Bugaboo images. Our fab sponsor is offering 7 stamps to the lucky winner of our challenge! Our lovely Wendy, has chosen the theme 'Button It', and she'd like to see at least one button on your creation. I thought it might be fun to do a decorated paper bag, so I've made a little gift bag with the super cute 'Peaches Present' from Bugaboo which I'll be wrapping a 'new baby' gift in.

I printed Peaches onto a digital paper from Raspberry Road then used my Promarkers to colour her up. I love the way the paper creates that hazy warm summer day background. I just thought it would be a fun change from white! I actually meant to add some Glossy Accents to the little balloons the wee mouse is holding and glitter to Peaches bow, but I utterly forgot before taking my pics! So alas, I'll have to redo all the pictures, but not in time for our challenge to go live. So, apologies if you see it before the finishing touches are done!

I've added a cute tiny heart button to Peaches bow and there's a button on the tag (which I should have done in white! So that may change yet). The butterfly strip is a lovely Whimsy Stamps die. I used a Lil' Inkers Square stitched edge die to cut the image out and have edged all the papers with my lovely new Prima Old Rose Fluid Chalk Ink by Ingvild Bolme.

I'm kicking myself that I didn't put the glitter on Peaches bow, but here's a closer look at the cute wee heart shaped button I used on her bow. It's a handmade button I bought from Etsy a while back.

Finally, the tag, with another button for good measure. On reflection, I wish I'd cut the tag from white card rather than the copper sheen I used, it seems a little out of place with the rest of the theme. Even Kraft would have worked better, oh well! Another thing to change when I get a minute!

Thanks for popping in today and do head on over to the Fab 'n' Funky Challenge to see what my team mates have been up to. Come and join in the fun this week with your button makes. See you again soon. Hugs, Wends x

Sweet Stampin' - Masculine Cards

It's time for another Sweet Stampin' challenge and this time, we want to see you making for your men. Our 'Masculine' theme is not always a favourite for crafters, but we all have fellas in our lives we need to give a little love to, so pull out your manly papers and stash and let's get creating! We are being sponsored by the wonderful Quixotic Paperie this challenge. So it's a fab prize on offer.

My DT card is one I made for my baby brothers graduation. As always, I was late, late, late, giving this to him - he graduated in 2014! But it's the thought that counts right? He totally deserves a little love and recognition having graduated with 2 masters degrees! So this sentiment I thought was perfect for his achievements. He's worked so hard this past year, holding down a full time job at the same time, serious kudos to my clever baby brother for seeing his goal and reaching it. We're all really proud of him! I have to give kudos to his awesome wife too, who supported him through his training and exams and became a chartered accountant this year. What's the saying 'behind every man...' You rock Yazzy! We love ya xxx

I've used Spellbinders Romantic Rectangles to make the mats for the sentiment and have layered a chocolate brown hessian strip between. I frayed the edges a bit. It doesn't show up well in this pic, but does give a nice bit of texture and interest to the card. The stripey yellow paper was on my desk having been left over from my baby diary creation. It's from Zoe Pearn and is called 'Baby of Mine'. I used a cream card base, so I thought the buttery yellow of the striped paper worked well with the base and the masculine olive green just gave it that 'boy feel' it needed.

I cut a heart from white paper using a cool stitched edge heart die from Lil' Inkers, and coloured it olive with my promarkers, then layered a wooden button with twine on top. I added some Quickutz photo corners also coloured with my Olive Promarker and added a couple of clouds with a flatback flair button with a hot-air balloon which reads '2014' - the year my brother graduated - on it.

I always tend to keep masculine makes quite CAS. So there you have it. Do pop on over to the main challenge blog and check out what my awesome teamies have been up to. They are a hugely talented bunch, so you're sure to find more inspiration there! See you again soon. Hugs, Wends x

Southern Girls - New Beginnings

It's a happy day for me today. I'm celebrating my 21st Wedding Anniversary, yep, I am sadly old enough for that to be true, though I was a child bride, truly! I'm going to be having a sweet celebration with my handsome hubby, but as usual we will have the kiddos with us too. What I really want to do is go and see the Hobbit, so fingers crossed Nanny can have the kiddos this weekend for us to sneak out for a 'big kids' night. I'm so looking forward to seeing it.

But apart from revelations of how old I'm getting, I'm actually here to share the first of the Team Lou posts for 2015 from the Southern Girls Challenge. I'm so excited to have been asked to stay on with the team and look forward to another year hanging out with these cool gals. We have our other wonderful blog mama Tracy back with us this year, some truly awesome sponsors and we will be going back to fortnightly challenges, so theres plenty of fun to be had at Southern Girls this year. Be sure to follow the blog, so that you don't miss a challenge! Our fab blog mama Lou, has been busy redesigning our challenge and giving it a little facelift. I think it looks fabulous! Check it out.

Now on with challenge #102, it's an easy theme of 'New Beginnings'. We'd love to see all your makes that have a 'New' theme, New House, New Job, New Baby or you could go for 'New Stash' as I'm sure there'll be a few of you out there who have some fabby new stash from Christmas.

I've been a little self-indulgent and made myself and 'New Diary'. It's going to be my Promarkers diary, for jotting down combos I like, playing and trying out new combos. I've not been that organised before with my colouring, but this year I'm giving it a go. I really enjoy my Promarkers, but I'm just not that savvy yet with them, so this year, I'm planning to have a lil' play and this notebook will serve as my record keeper for these trials.

We have two fabulous sponsors this challenge, The Paper Doll Company and Lacy Sunshine Stamps. I've used the sweet 'Rory - Time To Colour' from Lacy Sunshine for my image as that bag full of crafty goodies, was perfect for my 'New Creative Diary'. Heather very generously provided stamps for all the DT to use. I was feeling in a zingy kind of mood when I was colouring her, so I went for a pop of orange, but toned it down with denim blues. I have of course, used my fabby Promarkers to colour her.

When I was hunting for papers to work with my lilac, blue and orange pic, I found these gorgeous First Edition papers on my desk. They don't match the theme of my colouring exactly, but I coloured the image with Green eyes and she's wearing denim, so with a bit of a stretch it kinda works. I love the Kraft coloured Cotton Lace I've used here and have been wanting to use it for a while. I stuck with Kraft diecuts to tie the Kraft book cover in.

PicMonkey Collage2

I bought a Magnolia Doohickey Magazine not long before Christmas, which arrived just after, with this lovely key die in it and the Heart Doohickey too, which I've used as leafy splashes here. The flatback flair 'The Story' button was from The Paper Doll Company, which is run by the lovely Belinda, one of our Southern Girls DT. Do check out her store if you've not shopped there before. I've bought some really fab wood chip and flair goodies from there.

I went through so many different versions for this make. I had lots of dies cut, tried lots of layouts and paper combos, but in the end, I pared it back and went for this simple layout. I just can't seem to get the 'lots of layers' frou frou shabby chic thing happening. I really am a more CAS kinda girl. It's not quite as I had envisioned, but not wanting to get embellies caught in the spiral binding, I think it's a good fit for my 'New Creative Diary'. I'm excited to start using it now!

I hope you had fun looking at my wee crafty adventure and that you'll come on over to the Southern Girls Challenge and join in the fun with us. Check out what my talented teamies have been up to too! I look forward to seeing what you come up with. See you again soon. Big hugs, Wends x

P.S. If you've not yet joined in my 'Top 12 of 2014' challenge, there's still plenty of time. Celebrate the fun you had last year, by showcasing your favourites. Link up 'here'.

Sweet Stampin' - New Beginnings

Woohoo, it's time for a new Sweet Stampin' challenge, our first for 2015. So I'm here today to share my Design Team make with you. We are embracing all things 'NEW' at Sweet Stampin'. So we're keen to see your cards and creations that showcase something 'new'. A new baby, a new home, new job, new stash! As long as you show that your creation celebrates something new, you're in with a shot at the prize. Just remember to follow our simple rules and be sure there's some stamping on there! After all, that's what we're all about.

I have chosen to make a 'New Baby' card for this challenge. I say card, but in actual fact, it's more of a 'New Baby Diary'. I've made a concertina type card and decorated both sides, tying it with a simple ribbon fixture to keep it all together. I've been looking forward to sharing this, as I've not made a card like this before, and I was so pleased with how it came together!

Front Page of the Baby Diary

The papers I've used on the front page are DCWV Nana's Nursery - Baby Girl. Which I thought worked really well with the sweet animal prints I've used. I also used a gorgeous digital paper set and several of the elements from The Sweet Shoppe designer Zoe Pearn's lovely new baby set called 'Baby of Mine'. There are so many great elements in this set and I honestly could have made this book twice the size! All the colours and elements worked so well together considering they were from stand alone sets. So I'm super happy with this little make. I've another new baby make to craft for soon, so I'll have another play in the next few weeks with similar elements.

Close-up of the gorgeous LOTV 'Heaven Sent' baby stamp.

The sentiment I've used on the front page is from Tina Wenke for Stampavie, from the Happy Birthday set. Stampavie sadly closed shop in 2014, so get them while you can!

Image with the surrounding mats too.

I've used a lot of gorgeous Lili of the Valley stamps and sentiments on this card and I've also used some pre-coloured images that the lovely artist Sheri McCulley allowed me to use this way after I contacted her telling her how much I loved her work! So I've interspersed these gorgeous images to be little points of interest for the bubba as she grows. I think these Woodland Tails characters are really enchanting and work so well with the sweet Lili of the Valley images I've used.

I decorated the box lid with a Nana's Nursery page (how cute are those wee critters?!) and used one of the elements from the Sweet Shoppe Zoe Pearn digital paper set as the label for writing the address details on.

Here's the Baby Book inside it's handmade box ready for giving.

Do pop on over to the Sweet Stampin' blog to check out what my amazing team mates have made for this challenge and come and join us with your own 'New' adventures in craft. What a great way to kick off the 'New Year' in crafting! See you all again soon and Happy New Year! Hugs, Wends x
