A Special Christmas

Here as promised, finally, is the completed card I made with that beautiful image from Crissy Armstrong and Whimsy Stamps. I absolutely love this image and knew what and who I wanted to use it for the moment I saw it! It's been coloured with a very minimal approach using my trusty Promarkers. I love the softness of the palette. The details haven't shown up so well in the photo sadly.

I thought the combination of this sweet image with the wonderful sentiment stamp from Stampendous was inspired to convey our happiness and excitement for the safe and happy arrival of the newest little member of our extended family.

I kept the colours neutral, as I didn't know whether it was a boy or girl when I was making it, but I'm happy with the outcome anyway and hope it will be received with all the love it was made. Here's a close-up of the lovely blooms. They are a pretty fabric bloom from Prima called 'Kennedy Antique' I picked up just recently from Live and Love Crafts and was so happy to be able to use on this card, for the soft shabby chic feel they lent. They're on special at the moment, so go check them out if you likey. The lovely chocolate coloured hessian ribbon is also from Live and Love Crafts and the beautiful matt papers are Maja Designs - Vintage Summer Basics. I love that paper stack to bits! It's totally delish, so it was lovely to use these on this card. The 8x8 background paper is from a First Edition stack. I don't recall exactly which one however, sorry.

So there it is at last, the finished card. I hope you've all had a wonderful Christmas day, shared with all those you love. Thanks for popping by today, I love your visits! Hugs, Wends x

Christmas Hugs

I'm just back from a wonderful visit to Sweden where I had to say goodbye to one of the people I love most in this world, my fabulous, sassy, outspoken, opinionated, beautiful, intelligent, inspiring, oh so talented with the written word, gorgeous Scandinavian soul mate. Let's just say, it was NOT easy to say goodbye. But we celebrated her birthday in style, which will be the last one we can celebrate for a while and had our Christmas hugs, so our final moments together will be remembered with joy!

I'm now having to pack up all my crafty gear and get set for the big move home to New Zealand, so I won't be doing any 'new' makes until I'm home in NZ and my craft stash has found a home! I will post the ocassional card that I've already made, but hasn't yet featured on my blog, with the exception of one very special Christmas card which I'm making for my sister in law who's due to have her baby any day now! So watch this space...

I wish all my lovely blogland buddies a fabulous Christmas and a New Year filled with laughter, love, enough pennies to update your crafty stash and many uninterrupted crafting hours!

Thanks for visiting my little corner of the blogisphere. I love your visits and hope I'll see you again soon. Hugs, Wends xxx

Tiets Club and Saturated Canary

This lil' doll is the perfect image to be posting today having just come back from the school run half frozen! The ice was all over the cars and all the leaves were covered in frost. Pretty magical actually and totally made me think of this gorgeous Saturated Canary image that I've coloured up just recently. She was created especially for Tiets Club and is totally gorgeous.

The challenge set by Tiets, was to use the following sketch when creating a card with this image, so I had great fun trying to figure out how I was going to do that! I've only followed a couple of sketches before, preferring to usually go where the whim takes me. But I really enjoyed having a set structure to follow and had great fun with it.

I have a gorgeous Christmas sentiment stamp which I bought at Panduro Hobby on my last trip to Sweden to visit my besty there. So I loved being able to use that on this make and I think this card will definitely have to be sent to her for Christmas. (I so need to buy one of those anti-static cloths!!)

The fab feature paper was from the stash I won from the lovely Bev Rochester earlier this year. I still get a kick out of using 'those' papers, because I was so chuffed to have won them! I'll fill in the details of the paper later, as I need to rummage to find those details, which is impossible today, as we are selling the house and there's stuff everywhere!! Stressful to say the least!!! Can't wait to complete and have it all behind us, then it'll be booking the tickets home and New Zealand here we come! Can't wait!!

I added a ribbon and a sweet Christmas tree charm to finish the card, so here's a close-up of that little corner of the card.

I distressed all the edges of the papers and used a lovely snowflake stamp set to add the details on the white paper and around the image. I was really pleased with how that turned out as I didn't really have papers that coordinated properly with the lovely one I got from Bev, so had to have a little play to create my own embellished paper. Not a bad experiment I think. :) The colour changing crystal gems are from Mei Flower, which just added that final finishing touch.

Almost forgot to mention this, and it's kinda a fun fact... I coloured this image entirely from the latest 'four seasons' Promarkers special edition set. Even the skin! I'm not entirely happy with the pallor of the skin, I still prefer my usual set for the skin - dusky pink, blush and satin, but it was an experiment to see if I could produce an image entirely coloured by these special edition pens. I think it came out pretty well all things considered! Love my Promarkers, very happy with this lovely new set too! I'm entering this card into the 'Passion for Promarkers' latest challenge ~ 177 ~ 'Distressing' and since I DO love my Promarkers to bits, I'm also entering the 'I love Promarkers' latest challenge ~ 145 ~ 'Anything Goes'. Finally, I'm also entering this card into a fab new challenge blog I discovered recently, called 'Party Time Tuesdays'. The current challenge #96 is 'Anything Goes'.

Thanks so much for looking today. Go check out Tiets Club for all the other lovely creations that have been made using this beautiful image from Krista Smith. She'll be available for purchase soon through Saturated Canary too I believe, so watch that space!

Big hugs from me, now I need to get back to the stress-fest that is selling our house!!! Wends xxx

A Sneak Peak of a Christmas Card

Here's a little sneak peak of a Christmas card I'm making for my sister-in-law who's due to have her baby just before Christmas. This image is so beautiful and I think would be a gorgeous Christmas card to receive when you'd just had your babba! So I think it should look lovely when it's finished.

I've coloured the image with my Promarkers. I was experimenting with the new 'four seasons' limited edition set, so it's been coloured primarily with those colours, other than the skin, which I wanted a warmer tone for, so used my usual dusky pink, blush and satin combo on the Angel. I used ivory in place of satin on the babe . I love those combo's for skin. I'm really enjoying playing with the new pens and if you're a Promarker fan like me, you should definitely check them out! Cowling and Wilcox have an amazing deal on the full four season set, so go take a look! Not a lot of time these days to craft with all the packing and preparation to go home, so I thought I'd post the card 'in progress', just to have something new up.

This beautiful image is available from the Whimsy digital stamps collection by
Crissy Armstrong and is called 'Touched by Love'.

Thanks for visiting today, I hope you're having a happy Sunday.
I'm just off out with the kiddo's to a birthday party. Hugs, Wends xxx

Best Friends Forever

As promised, here is the card from the 'sneak peak'. I made this for my little girls best friend, who has recently moved to Switzerland. They've been bossom buddies since they were 4 years old! So it's a very special friendship and with us both leaving the UK within a short space of time, we are hoping the girlies can stay in touch as penpals. So this was our first little 'penpal' post to Switzerland.

When I saw this Tiddly Inks image I just new it was the right one to use, inked up as if they are wearing their uniforms, this image worked perfectly! My daughter was incredibly proud to be sending this to her best friend, which made me so happy for her.

(For a close up of the tag see my previous post)

As always I've used Promarkers to colour the image and I thought the Papermania Portobello Road Union Jack paper was the perfect background for our globe-trotting British babies. A sweet sentiment tucked into the side on a Magnolia Doohickey tag, some denim distress ink to the edges and a couple of silver ribbons to mirror the grey uniform and hey presto, done!

I am entering this into the Tiddly Ink Challenge #97 - 'Make it like Lou'. I used the blue, red and beige colours from Lou's gorgeous creation as the inspiration for my background paper and also used a Wryn image, as she had done albeit it different to the one she chose. I think my interpretation of the sketch was pretty fun, so hope the challenge team do too.

Thanks for coming to visit today. Hang around, browse the back files, have a cuppa, and if you like what you see say hi, so I can come visit you too. Hugs, Wends x

Leaving on a jet plane...

I'm off in the wee hours of the morning to visit my darling Swedish pal and I can't wait!!! So I won't be around for comments or visits. I send you all happy thoughts in my absence, but most especially to those of you in the US right now who are affected by this awful Hurricane. Love and blessings your way! Wends x

Here's a sneak peak of a card I'll post on my return :)

Thanks for visiting. Catch ya'll again real soon. Hugs, Wends xxx

My Little Blossom

I made this card earlier in the year for my daughters seventh birthday. She's crazy about pooches and would so love one of her own, so when I found this gorgeous Precious Moments stamp, I knew it was the one for her birthday card.

The card is very simple with some beautiful oriental paper from Crafts Too and pretty borders making use of both the border design and the offcut across the top. Hadn't tried this before, but I think the offcut from the lower design is lovely in it's own right, so used it across the top. This border punch is a Martha Stewart one - Floral Lace. I used an old present wrapping ribbon technique from my younger days, which I think suited this card perfectly and am really happy with the look. The lovely satin ribbon is from stash.

I cut the number seven by hand as I didn't have a large enough number die in my stash. The sweet sentiment came as a giveaway from one of my fav' crafty mags. I don't recall which one sorry. The image has been coloured with my trusty Promarkers and I was really pleased with the colours as they matched so well with the lovely oriental background paper.

I'm entering this card in the 'Passion For Promarkers' challenge 172 - Pets. A perfect image for this challenge. Hope they'll like it!

Thanks for looking today. Hope to see you again soon and if you like what you saw, leave me a comment, so I know you were here. I love to be able to visit you too!

Hugs, Wends xxx

Christmas is Coming

Here's another quick post with a sweet simple card I made using a lovely Lili of the Valley diecut. I collected quite a number of these before gaining confidence with my Promarkers and they're still fabulous for a quick make! I've added glitter to the stamp details and a simple sentiment which I had knocking around in my stash which I matted on a spellbinders scalloped circle.

There's not so much to say about this card, no flashy paper or fabulous embellishments, just the sweet diecut bears. So that's it from me for now. Catch ya'll again soon. Hugs, Wends x

I'm entering this card in the Pink Gem Designs Challenge 58: Polka Dots/Spots.

Kirsty Sue's Shoes

I have a sister who has always loved shoes, so much so, that she launched her own, very successful shoe business a few years ago, before her babies came along. So when I found this image on the Just Inklined site, I knew straight away who I'd want to make this card for. What a yummy shoe! I added a fun feather feature that I had floating around my stash, but underneath that is a really beautiful feather detail on the shoe, so go check out the stamp on the Just Inklined website. It's a real bargain at only £1!

I found this fabulous sentiment rummaging through the bargain boxes in the last Ally Pally Big Stamp and Scrapbooking Show. What a fabulous place to taste the delights of crafting! I'm so lucky to live in North London, so have attended every show these past few years. Love it! But I'll be back in New Zealand when the next one comes around, so I went a little mad last time and bought up large!

The beautiful buckle is a Memory Box die which I glittered for a little extra bling, the pearls are from MeiFlower and the border punch is a Martha Stewart one - doily lace. The background paper I'll have to look up and update in a day or so or I'll never get this live!

Big hugs from me to you all, thanks for looking today and come visit again soon xxx

Oriental Delight

I LOVED this stamp when I found it. Such a sweet, simple and yet lovely image. Great for getting my early colouring mojo on! I coloured up this cutie in the very early days of my experiencing and experimenting with Promarkers, and it was a simple enough design to be quite forgiving. Her name is 'Kishi' and you can find her over at 'Digi Stamp Boutique'.

The paper is from the lovely stash I won in one of Bev Rochester's generous blog candies. I was so chuffed when I won and couldn't wait to get started using the lovely papers. This K&Co paper from the 'Sweet Nectar' paper stack is so delish, not a lot of embellishing is necessary. I threw a few lovely Wild Orchid Craft flowers on my card and added some pretty lace and hey presto, fini! :)

Thanks for looking today. I hope you like my little Oriental Delight and hope you'll pop back to visit again soon. I have popped her into the latest DigiStamp Boutique customer challenge. Hope they like her!  Big hugs, Wends xxx

Awesome Bearly Mine Candy...

I've already posted today, but just had to come back for a little shout out for this amazing opportunity to win some rather delicious candy. It's quite an exceptional bundle and if you are based in the UK, there's also the opportunity to win one of the brand spanking new Epson Expression Premium XP-605 printers. It looks amazing, check it out, no seriously... check it out! Go visit Donna's blog for all the dete's. Hugs, Wends :)

My Special Lil' Pal

I have a card for you today which I made for a very special little person in my life. I nursed her for many years when I first arrived in the country and her family still remain in contact with me. So in celebration of her recent birthday, I whipped up this lil' card.

The image is a lovely 'freebie' from the talented Dutch artist Angelique Kramer and could not be more perfect for this wee blossom. I have used colours she used to wear a lot when she was younger for the background papers and chose Promarkers in the same colour-way to colour the image.

The pretty yellow papers are from a paper pack that was given away with one of my favourite craft magazines. I think it was from a 'Pink Petticoat' range. The lovely red base card is a square one from the 'Anita's Cards' collection. I love the Whimsy die I've used for the foliage on the right hand side. I probably use it way too much! But it's perfect for this make with it's little hearts. The lovely gardenia flower is from Wild Orchid Crafts and the organza and satin ribbon is from stash. I saved it from a chocolate box gift a couple of Christmas's ago, knowing I'd find a use for it sometime!

I hope you enjoy the card. Have a fab' day and stop by again soon! Hugs, Wends xxx

Lucky Me - Woohoo

I had such a lovely surprise yesterday! I found I had won two of Krista Smiths fabulous Saturated Canary images from the lovely Jane of the Cupboard Under the Stairs (don't you just love that blog name?!!) for joining in the combined blog-hop with 'Action Wobbles' and 'Saturated Canary'.

I was so chuffed as there were a number of Krista's images I've had my eye on lately! So Woohoo (dancing a little jig right now) and in my best Lola Sunner voice (from kids program 'Charlie & Lola, my kiddies favourite!) ... "lucky me, lucky me, lucky lucky me!"

Another thing I feel very lucky about right now...

We are finally going home, after 13 years in London! It's fair to say London will always have a big place in our hearts, but there really is 'no place like home' and I just can't wait now to take my British babies home!

I was looking through some photos of our last visit home and came across this one, which made me smile all over! It's the park bench outside my big sisters apartment building in St Heliers, Auckland, which overlooks the bay. You can't get much better than that for a view from a park bench! I look forward to being home, coffee in hand, sis at my side and having a good chin-wag sitting on that bench. :) :)

I've gone a little mad in the lead up to heading home - stocking up on paper craft bits and pieces. It's all so expensive in New Zealand and we have a whole house full of stuff to ship so I figure what's a little extra crafty stash - right?!!

Do you have any favourite bits of kit? Favourite stamps, Dies, Papers, that you'd recommend I get before the big move? I'd love to hear what your fav's are, so do leave me a comment when you visit.

Thanks for looking today and I'll have a card ready for the next update.
Big hugs, Wends xxx

Beach Boy

I made this card for one of my brothers-in-law. Not hard to figure a theme for him, he's your quintessential surfer dude! But he's not getting to the waves as much this past year, so I wanted to remind him of what makes his heart sing through his birthday card. It went down a treat too, so I was well chuffed!

I found this fun surfer dude on the Pollycraft website before it closed, but I believe you can still buy most of the Pollycraft images via Little Miss Muffet. I coloured the lil' dude with my trusty Promarkers (of course). I thought I'd ink the edges with a swirly stamp to mimic the waves, but let's just say, I muffed that one! I didn't have time to redo the image, so just squint a little and it doesn't look so bad!! LOL.

I loved the papers, with the old surfers van, it was the perfect base for this card and I really didn't want to cover it too much as it's just so fun, but being ever so slightly addicted to Memory Box dies of late, I just HAD to use my new turtle dies. I've never seen turtles in New Zealand waters, but there are five different species that live in New Zealand waters apparently! Here's a close up look at the lovely turtles.

P1080832                 P1080830

I used a Memory Box Tropical Leaf die under the turtle on the left and the turtles were finished with some Glossy Accents to get that lovely shine on their shells. The sentiment stamp, was one I found in a big rummage through a grey rubber bargain bin at the last Ally Pally craft fair. It's such a fabulous place to find heartfelt, fun and quirky sentiments. I must confess I did go a little giddy last time, I must have snapped up a quarter of the box! I won't ever be short of a sentiment now!! I finished the card with a little twine and a lovely starfish charm from stash.

Thanks for popping in today. I hope you've had fun looking around my blog and maybe even checked out some of my older posts. Feel free to have a look around. If you like what you see, be sure to say hi, so I can pop in and visit you in return. Hugs, Wends xxx

Krista's Butterfly Baby

A quick post from me today, with a shout out for Krista's Butterfly Baby appeal. Krista has drawn the loveliest lil' bub to support a charity for baby's born with EB - Epidermolysis Bullosa. Read Krista's blog for all the heartbreaking details. This is a great cause and right on the tail of an earlier charity drive Krista did for St Jude Children's Research Hospital, which she raised $18,000 for.

As I sat reading the details on Krista's blog, I was profoundly aware of how blessed we are to have two healthy baba's. I feel this so keenly, as when I was paediatric nursing, I saw more than my share of heart-breaking conditions and illnesses. My babies were a long time coming, so I've had my own story and journey to parenthood, and I am thankful daily for my beautiful healthy children.

To support the EB Charity, Krista has made available this beautiful digi-stamp of a sweet wee baba with butterfly wings, the proceeds of which will go to the charity for a limited time. The image is gorgeous, perfect for a variety of 'baby makes'. So if you're a crafter with a big heart, check out this lil' baba.

Thanks for stopping by today. Hugs, Wends x

Lil' Dutch Beauty

Today's card is for a new Dutch Challenge Blog. This gorgeous image is from the talented Krista Smith of Saturated Canary and was offered free through the new blog if used to enter their challenge. So here is my take on this lovely image. I've used orange as my point of inspiration, as whenever we've visited Holland, this colour has featured heavily in their souvenir shops.

I have used a pretty floral paper that was actually an advertisement for a Knitting and Stitching show. The add features in the centre underneath all my layers, so I've just used the border and a strip cut from below the advertisement as the central strip. I thought it was such a pretty floral and I'm a keen recycler, so this was fun to use. The papers used to layer up behind the image were a freebie with a recent magazine, I'll hunt down which one later on and update.

I'm super pleased with the floral spray, which I've used my brand new Memory Box Blossom die to create the platinum coloured flower. I glittered the Magnolia Doohickey Heart Swirl with some Stickles Star Dust, to add a little interest. I used my new Romantic Rectangles Large die to matt the image and then matted again to really set off the pretty edge of the die, so it wasn't lost in all the contrasting background papers.

Thank You Stano

I made this card as a thank you card for our wonderful handyman who transformed our London apartment ready to go on the market. He did such an amazing job and was so easy going, especially considering he had us, the kids and all their toys to stumble over! I thought Christy Croll's lovely 'Carpenter Joe' image was perfect for his card and had great fun putting this one together. I kept it simple for two reasons, he's a man, so 'fru fru frills' wasn't going to be a hit and I was in a hurry too to give it to him before he left. So it's very pared down, but I'm still really pleased with it. If you like the denim paper, race on over to Joanna Sheen, as the 'Haberdashery Paper Pack' is on special at the moment for only £1.99!

Party for Paris

So my lil' girlie had a party to attend on Sunday, which I found I had no appropriate card for. I have limited time to craft, so have really enjoyed having a little stash of beautifully hand-crafted cards on hand from my lovely crafting pals, Annette, Pops and Bev. On this occasion nothing I had was quite right. So a quick little make the night before the party was necessary. There is something to be said for 'working under pressure' - I was pretty good with that in my nursing days too! Adrenalin sure does clear the mind!!! So I got stuck into my stash, and pulled out some coordinating papers, which were buried long ago in a pile of 'must sort through someday' papers. I was pleased with how things all came together.

I had previously coloured the image with my trusty Promarkers while we were on holiday in Wales and glittered it on our return to London, so that was ready to go. Finding the papers which matched and appropriate embellies, all just came together, which is not always so easily the case for me. I tend to be one of those 'sit and ruminate far too long' kinda crafters, trying to find that spark of inspiration! So I was pleased this all just flowed very easily. Thanks for looking today, hope you like what you see. Leave me a comment if you visit, so I can come visit you too. Hugs, Wends x

So much to say, so little time!

So much to say, so little time! I've been away in Wales for a week and had the most wonderful break away. It seems like only yesterday we got back, but truth be told it's over a week ago now and I still haven't managed to update my blog! So thought it was about time I did so tonight.

I've had a fab weekend with the kiddies and some fab 'mummy time' too. Saturday morning the kiddies and I queued around the block to see Axel Sheffler the illustrator of the Gruffalo, our favourite kiddies book. Which was quite frankly, well worth the wait. They have several books now not just signed by this ever so talented man, but also with their own little 'one-off' illustration alongside each autograph. Such treasures for us to take home to New Zealand in the new year. It was really lovely to meet him and although he had so many people to see and sign their books, he was gracious and took the time to do a special picture in each book. It was amazing to watch him draw!! So that was a fabulous start to our weekend.

Georgie then had a party to attend, which I dropped her off to and then snuck up to Ally Pally to catch a few minutes of the first day of the 'Big Stamp and Scrapbooking Show' before picking her up again from her party. I'm so lucky to live in North London, only a stones throw from Alexandra Palace. So I look forward to attending this show whenever it's here. Especially because we don't have a craft store in the area. I'm always so excited to get to experience new things and get up close and personal with the stamps and dies at these shows. Needless to say, my wallet is a little lighter now!

Day two of the show, I attended with one of my lovely pals who I've been trying to convince to attend with me for the past two shows. I'm not sure now if she thanks me for this, because her wallet is a little lighter too!!! But we surely did have a really fun day.

Here are a few pics of my kiddies watching Axel at work...

Sad Face... Repost

I'm reposting this, in the hope that I might get some more advice from my lovely crafty pals out there. I really am torn as to whether to buy another Big Shot or try a Cuttlebug. Any advice would be gratefully received!

Last night, my Sizzix Big Shot broke, or I broke it, not sure which!!! It hasn't been used overly much, as I rarely get time to craft, but it has been 'stiff' to pull the dies through for some time or from memory really from the beginning. The top sandwich layer has always curled within a short space of time and I'm on my third one! When my hubby pulled the handle off to see why it wasn't working, all the 'teeth' were burred! Has anyone else out there had this trouble with their Big Shot?

I'm just wondering whether I should replace it with a Cuttlebug, or if it was just bad luck and a dud machine. Any advice I'd love to hear!! I'd really prefer to stick with a Big Shot as I've a number of their dies and I'm not sure if the Cuttlebug takes them all, so anyone in the know who has some stellar advice for me, I'd love to hear from you! Bear in mind, it'll have to be transported back to New Zealand soon too, so I need something sturdy to go the distance.

Thanks and biggest hugs, Wends xxx

Icecream and Pickles

Don't you just love this stamp?! Another fab image from the lovely Krista Smith. I made this image up previously, but with a much 'louder' colour palette. I'm so happy with this soft muted compilation and just love the gorgeous lace which is from the lovely folks at Wild Orchid Crafts. The papers are from the amazing stash I won recently from the hugely generous Bev Rochester. I still can't believe I won them and I'm having the best time using them. I loved the butterfly paper in particular and thought it would be fun to use one of the little ones to make an extra embellishment. I'll have to come back with the paper names, as I can't find the list right now. The pearls are from Mei Flower and I've distressed and inked the edges of all the panels with Tim Holtz Distress Ink ~ Tea Dye. I also added a drop of glossy accents to her eyes to make them shine and to the cherry on top. This card was made for someone I love very much, who shared very happy news I thought might never come, so over the moon!

I am entering this card into the current 'Saturated Canary' challenge, which is 'Dotty'. I think my hokey pokey icecream and the spotty backing paper should fit the challenge :)

I have also entered this card into the 'Passion for Promarkers' challenge 165 - Lace & Swirls. The lace on my card is delish and the swirly background paper fits the challenge, so fingers crossed, they'll like the journey my Promarkers took! :)

Thanks for looking today. Let me know what you think, I love to read your comments. Hugs, Wends x

A Wee Blossom...

I completely fell in love with this wee fairy when she came as a freebie with issue 82 of Papercraft Essentials Magazine. I was already a die-hard fan of Sylvia Zet's wistful imagery and have almost all of her digi-stamps, so it was a real treat to have a couple of images from her now as clear polymer stamps. I just know I'm going to have a lot of fun playing with this image. Today's one, was simply for me to have a little play with toning red hair for a friend who asked for a couple of cards with a 'red-headed' character. I thought she'd be perfect and had great fun playing. I stamped her straight onto the card, so just finished her off with a simple stamped greeting and a hand-drawn doodle border. My first time trying this and clearly I need more practice, but as it's my first attempt at a doodle border with a clean and simple format I think it'll do.

Crafty Heart - Part Two

I'm a huge fan of giving books to kiddies for presents. So I wanted to create a little 'bookmark' to go with one of the pressies I'd bought for my lovely pal's little girl. The photo isn't great sorry, but you get the gist...

Her name appeared at the top, which I've cropped for obvious reasons, but you still get the idea. I was chuffed with it. I must buy a laminater though, as I think it would have been great to throw a laminate over to protect it.

The image is a sweet 'Wryn' from Tiddly Inks, which I coloured with my faithful Promarkers and added a little glitter to the hearts for a little girly bling. It was a quick make, but I was really pleased with the little extra it added to her present and will definitely do it again for future gifts. The style is very 'clean and simple' but that was what I was going for. Just a simple decorative border and some ink to the edges and the look was complete.

I hope you like it and if so, don't be shy, leave me a comment and let me know. Thanks for looking today. Hugs, Wends x

Crafty Heart

Here is a wee card I made for the daughter of a very dear friend. She was turning 6 and is right at that age, where there's no better present than glitter glue and bits of paper. She has a crafty wee heart, which of course I love! So when looking for a gift for this wee doll, I knew exactly what sort it had to be and had in mind the perfect image of Krista Smiths from Saturated Canary to use for her birthday card.

The Big 4~0

Another card that's been waiting in the wings for me to upload! I have to confess I have a few of these. I love to sit and colour and have so many images waiting to be made up into cards, and then so many that I've made up, waiting to be loaded onto my blog. Oh for just another hour in the day!!!

Graduation Mama

I made this card a while back, but with Greg's hospital stay, shifting house and putting ours on the market, there's been little time to blog my creations. So I'll try to do a little 'catch up' over the next few days.

I made this card for my lovely sister in law, who just finished her second degree. She continued teaching the whole time she was studying and has 3 growing children to boot! So I thought this was rather a commendable achievement and wanted to celebrate this with her through this creation.

I'm back online! Thanks to my clever hubby, who has managed to boost the WiFi connection, so it runs the full length of the house. I have been missing getting my daily fix of crafty inspiration from all my favourite blogs out there. So I'm super excited to be back online.

It seems a lifetime ago my hubby was in hospital. He was so sick and it was such a stressful time! But he's out of hospital, minus his gall-bladder and is recovering so well. Can't believe how long he's suffered. Misdiagnosed twice by our GP! I managed to shift house while he was in hospital and put our house on the market. What a mission! I've been in 'survival mode' for the past few weeks and have missed so much having an internet connection, as crafting and checking in with my fav' blogs is such a great way to relax and so stress relieving! So I'm stoked to be back online now.

Missed you all like crazy!! Mwah, Wends xxx

Poorly Hubby

My darling hubby is in hospital. Which is the best place for him, as he's been suffering so badly. Finally we know why! He needs his gall-bladder out but it's so inflammed right now, they have to stabilize his inflammation and treat the pain, so it's four days without his wonderful sense of humour keeping us all smiling. I haven't even been able to visit him yesterday, because my small dude is running a high fever! So grateful to one of my lovely pals who will be coming over tonight to babysit, so I can pop in and give my hubby a little visit to lift his spirits. Georgie has been busy colouring up a sweet digi from Sliekjes blog to give to her papa. He doesn't have a broken leg, but we thought it still fitted the occasion perfectly. Will update with pic, when she's finished.

Off to start packing for our house shift this weekend. Wondering if there's anything else the Universe would like to throw at me right now?!!! Thanks for popping in. Wends x

Gorgeous Girl

I have a quick post this morning. My hubby is in hospital, so my day will be very full. But I so needed some 'destress' time last night, so threw together a really quick card for the Sugar Bowl challenge, with a really lovely 'Gorjuss Girl' stamp I have called Foxy.

Here she is...

Rushing out door now. Have an awesome day xxx

I'm back on 4 June 2013 with a little update on this card, the inside of the card I never posted previously. But I was searching through some photos for my latest post and found the inside pic, so thought I'd add this today. So here it is ...

I also never posted the details of the card, so thought I'd update those too. The paper I used is a yummy First Edition paper from the Desert Blooms pad and the gingham paper is from a forever friends paper pad, but I don't have those details to hand. The image is available here. The beautiful lace is from Wild Orchid Crafts. Okay, that's all, just wanted to update the missing details. Hope you're having a fabby day xxxx

San Diego Sweethearts

I love this Tiddly Inks image and have used it a couple of times just recently to celebrate weddings and anniversaries. This one however, was to celebrate my baby sister's first wedding anniversary. She is 'Scandanavian Blonde', our Swedish genes came out in her beautifully! So I did my best to do her gorgeous blonde hair justice in this image and her hubby is of Persian descent, so I also tried to do his gorgeous tanned skin tone justice. It's not perfect, but when they get the card, there'll be no denying who the couple is meant to represent! So I'm chuffed with the overall effect.

I thought the yellow papers looked great to set off the lovely blonde hair and found some papers that toned perfectly in my stash. I'm not sure where the papers are from. The background paper is relatively new, which came I think from my Scrapbooking magazine as a giveaway. The other papers I'm not sure, I'll have to rummage through again and try to pin down their sources. Will update when I know.

The stunning guipure lace is Wild Orchid Crafts and the sweet heart and decorative corner is from Whimsy. I edged all the layers with tea dye Ranger Distress Ink as the Walnut ink I tend to favour was too dark against the yellow. The amber pearls are from Mei Flower and the doily and sentiment are from stash.

Thanks for looking today. I hope you like what you see. Thanks for visiting my little corner of the blogasphere. Hugs, Wends x

Update: The papers were a magazine cover gift, but I believe they are from Pink Petticoat.

Lavender Sky

I have a sweet card using a Saturated Canary image today - Ava. This is a lovely 'freebie' from Krista Smith, which just captured my attention immediately. The look of innocence and all the sweet frilly layers on her dress, I just love it! I'm planning to give this to a friends daughter for her birthday and went for a lovely 'sunny blonde' as her daughter has the most stunning sunny blonde hair. I added a little glitter to the highlight areas for fun and just to see how it would turn out and I'm quite pleased with my experiment. I glittered the balloon first and am not so sure it's not a little OTT, but overall, I'm pretty pleased with this lil' cutie. I masked the image to create the lavender sky behind. I haven't tried this technique before and I'm so happy with how it came out. I really wanted to keep the sky in the same colours as I'd chosen for the main image, so it almost has a 'dusk' feel about it.

Getting in the groove

Wow, weeks have passed and I just haven't had time to update my blog. Have loved going for visits to all the lovely card blogs out there though. We are shifting house in this next week, and it's likely I'm going to have to pack up my craft stuff until I'm back in New Zealand. Can't wait now, so excited to be going home! Now I just have to get into the groove of ruthless decluttering. I feel a clear out of my crafty stash coming on! I will try and get some of my images up in the next day or so, but this is a little hello from me until then. Thanks for visiting, Wends xxx

One of those days...

I'm having 'one of those days'.... full of a horrible cold and my little man is suffering too, but being oh so cute despite it.

I've taken a moment before starting my adventures for the day with my small boy to check out my fav' blogs for inspiration and just to give me that 'feel good factor' to start my day.

Have to share with you this cool link. Krista Smith from Saturated Canary is one of my favourite artists and she has a super fun blog, that celebrates her talent and life in general. Today she's giving away the cutest lil' camera I've ever seen! Check it out...

Hope it makes you smile too!!! Hugs, Wends xxxx

Lucky Me - Part Two

I've had a fabulous week away with my hubby and babes in Scotland and the Lake District. Totally refreshing and rejuvenating, though we could have done without the colds we picked up when we got drenched in the very wet Lake District. That was a bit of a wash out (pardon the pun), but we still managed to have a fabulous time at the Beatrix Potter museum. I highly recommend that as a fun family day out.

I've been feeling poorly all weekend with this lousy cold, so as if on cue, to cheer me up, I received a very lovely parcel from Bev Rochester today. The papers I'd won in one of her stash give-away's has arrived and can I just say they are so so delish! I'm so excited, as they are completely different to anything else I have in my stash, so I now have a fab variety. I have been struggling to find nice purple papers, and there are several really lovely ones in the pack, so I'm chuffed to bits! There were even some Maja Design papers, which come from Sweden and are hard to get hold of over here, so I feel well and truly spoilt! They are my current fav, so it's a super treat!! I have been haranging my darling Swedish buddy to snag me some, but will be able to wait a bit now. :)

Thank you lovely Bev for your very generous and wonderful gift. I am sincerely grateful and may just take a minute to dance another little jig tonight I'm so happy! While I do that, have a look at my lovely new stash - woohoo! :)

Such a generous number of papers, yet to count how many, but it looks like HEAPS!

I had to split the pack to get them all in a photo, so here's the second lot.

Thanks for looking today, I hope I haven't made you too jealous!
Hugs to you all out there in the wonderful crafty Blogaverse, Wends x

Lucky Me...

(Said with a little skip in my step and affected 'Lola' voice) - Ooh lucky me, lucky, lucky me! I won!!

I entered a paper stash giveaway on Bev Rochester's blog. She's one of my favourite card designers and I have followed her since I knew what blogs were! I saw her work first in magazines and would faithfully clip out the pages with her stunning cards to use for future inspiration, often referring to them to refresh my creativity when I am feeling 'blocked'. So to wake up this morning and find to my great surprise and delight that I had won her paper stash giveaway, well let's just say... Woohoo!!

I'm not one to win things, and there were over 200 entries, so I thought it was a slim chance I'd win, but wanted to enter as the papers are so lush! So this is a big surprise and frankly fabulous!

Thank you Bev so much, for your wonderful generosity x

That's all I have right now, but I'll add a piccy when the goodies arrive. Such a happy bunny this afternoon and to top it all off, the thunderstorm hasn't come today and we have another glorious London day, bliss. :)

Celebrating Friendship

I just love this Lili of the Valley die cut. It's a large one, which works so well with the 8x8 card I've used. I've wanted to use this image for a while as it's so lovely and actually put the card together some time ago. But I wasn't happy with the finish, so it sat for a long time, while I mulled over how to finish it. I finally just grabbed a bunch of fabulous Wild Orchid Craft flowers and went for it. Still early days for me using this style of embellishment, but I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. I just love the sweet little blossoms which toned so well with the papers.

The two border punches used are both Martha Stewart - 'Valentine Lace' and 'Doily Lace'. The ribbon is from stash as is the sentiment and annoyingly I can't recall where the lovely background paper is from. So I'll update these details when I remember! Thanks for looking today x

Here's One I Prepared Earlier...

I made this card for one of my best mates, who is a real bookworm. Let's just say, she's incomplete without a book in hand. I love this about her, and wanted to celebrate her great appetite for books, by sending her a card which reflected this. So where better to source the right image than from the wonderfully talented author and illustrator Elizabeth O. Dulemba. She has a fabulous site dedicated to promoting her children's books which includes children's 'Colouring Pages'. Elizabeth's site is all about encouraging kiddies to read and hence has loads of wonderful images of characters reading. I loved her 'Reading Fairy' and knew this would be perfect for my pal. I just know I'll be back there again too!
