Sweet Stampin' - Masculine Cards
It's time for another Sweet Stampin' challenge and this time, we want to see you making for your men. Our 'Masculine' theme is not always a favourite for crafters, but we all have fellas in our lives we need to give a little love to, so pull out your manly papers and stash and let's get creating! We are being sponsored by the wonderful Quixotic Paperie this challenge. So it's a fab prize on offer.
My DT card is one I made for my baby brothers graduation. As always, I was late, late, late, giving this to him - he graduated in 2014! But it's the thought that counts right? He totally deserves a little love and recognition having graduated with 2 masters degrees! So this sentiment I thought was perfect for his achievements. He's worked so hard this past year, holding down a full time job at the same time, serious kudos to my clever baby brother for seeing his goal and reaching it. We're all really proud of him! I have to give kudos to his awesome wife too, who supported him through his training and exams and became a chartered accountant this year. What's the saying 'behind every man...' You rock Yazzy! We love ya xxx
I've used Spellbinders Romantic Rectangles to make the mats for the sentiment and have layered a chocolate brown hessian strip between. I frayed the edges a bit. It doesn't show up well in this pic, but does give a nice bit of texture and interest to the card. The stripey yellow paper was on my desk having been left over from my baby diary creation. It's from Zoe Pearn and is called 'Baby of Mine'. I used a cream card base, so I thought the buttery yellow of the striped paper worked well with the base and the masculine olive green just gave it that 'boy feel' it needed.
I cut a heart from white paper using a cool stitched edge heart die from Lil' Inkers, and coloured it olive with my promarkers, then layered a wooden button with twine on top. I added some Quickutz photo corners also coloured with my Olive Promarker and added a couple of clouds with a flatback flair button with a hot-air balloon which reads '2014' - the year my brother graduated - on it.
I always tend to keep masculine makes quite CAS. So there you have it. Do pop on over to the main challenge blog and check out what my awesome teamies have been up to. They are a hugely talented bunch, so you're sure to find more inspiration there! See you again soon. Hugs, Wends x
