A Day For Roses

I made this card to celebrate my baby brother's wedding to his beautiful bride. My sister in law was breathtaking on their wedding day and my lil' brother didn't look too shabby himself. Their day was filled with special moments, beautiful scenery and wonderful family and friends and stunning roses. The details and little touches that went into their wedding day were sophisticated and beautiful and all carefully crafted by my very clever and beautiful sister in law.

I didn't have my kit in the country to be able to make them a wedding card at the time, so I've made one 'after the fact' but if you know me, you'll know, I may run a little late, but it's always made with care and a lotta' love!

I wanted the stamp I used to be equally sophisticated as their wedding day was and utterly love this wonderful stamp from 'A Day for Daisies'. It is called - You May Kiss The Bride.

The beautiful paper I've used was from the set I won from the lovely Bev Rochester a while back. Most of the papers were labelled, but this one lost it's tag, so I have no idea which paper designer it's from. It's so pretty though, with soft dreamy colours. If anyone happens to know these papers do let me know so I can update the info. I chose this paper because of the beautiful roses on it, as my sister in law had chosen the most stunning roses to adorn her wedding day. I wanted it to have gentle not sharp contrast with the base card, so chose craft card rather than white.

I kept the design very simple as I really wanted to show off the pretty paper, just finishing with a lovely wide shiny satin ribbon topped with some very pretty cream cotton lace and another thin latte coloured ribbon which I tied in a bow. I have a 'Top Tip' for you too, because my base ribbon was pale coloured and slightly see through, I only put a strip of runner glue down the centre, which would then be obscured by the lace and top ribbon, fixing at the back of the base paper with a little more runner glue and some tape for secure fixing, leaving no raw selvages and a nice tidy finish. I completed the card with four tiny latte coloured flat backed pearls from MeiFlower and the front page was done.

The image was coloured with my trusty Promarkers and I simply added a little Star Dust Stickles to the veil for shimmer. A simple but elegant card design was what I was after. I used a pretty rectangular Spellbinders die for the image and edged it with both Memento Desert Sand ink and the very edge with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress ink. I edged the papers in the Tea Dye ink too. To the inside of the card, I added a lovely sentiment from a Magnolia stamp which I felt had just the right wording. I used Memento Desert Sand to ink it, to keep the light romantic theme of the front.

Annoyingly, I didn't take pics of the bride and groom that day, as I'd gone a bit mad at my other brothers wedding the week before and Greg banned me from using the camera!

Update: My brother gave me a pic I could post of him and his lovely bride on their wedding day. My Georgie is giving Yasmin a horseshoe. Aren't they a stunning couple?!
