Celebrating Friendship
I made this card for a very dear friend of mine that I left back in the UK. She was such a huge help to me throughout our friendship and especially so when we were packing up to leave the UK. We have shared many very special times together over the years and our children too share sweet connections. So I put together this card as a thank you to her for all she'd done in those final weeks for us and in celebration of the special friendship we share. Seas and land may part us, but we remain connected at the heart.
I have always loved this image from Saturated Canary. Krista sure knows how to capture a little magic with her pencil. Not sure what it is about this stamp in particular, but it reminds me of my lovely pal, so it was an easy choice when I was thinking of putting together a card for her. Here's a close up of Krista's lovely stamp Springtime which I coloured of course with my trusty Promarker pens.
I played with lots of different papers behind this image and quite honestly it would have worked with about 80% of them. But there was something joyful and wonderful about this Raspberry Road paper. It's only in retrospect that I note, that yellow roses are the roses of friendship! So was a perfect choice for my 'celebration of friendship' card. This Raspberry Road paper was also perfect for the the I Love Promarkers Challenge this week, which is working with a photo for inspiration, check out the pic.
I utterly loved this quote I used on the card too. It's a little tricky to read in the main picture as it melts into the background in some places. But I actually really loved the effect! It's a sticker from a DCWV sentiment pad. Here's a close up so you can read the text.

I loved the paper so much, I didn't want to cover it with loads of heavy embellishments, and wanted the beautiful image and lovely sentiment to be allowed to really feature, so a simple pink and yellow mat behind the image, trimmed with some lovely pink lace and some pink seam binding from Wild Orchid Crafts was all I really needed to tie in the colours. I embossed the plain yellow paper for a bit more interest. I edged the image and all the papers with Memento Desert Sand Ink. I toyed with the idea of putting gems in the corners, but chose against it. I think it didn't need anything extra.
So there's not a huge amount more to say about this card. Made with love for a fabulous friend who I miss to bits. Thanks for popping in to visit my blog today. I hope you'll come again soon and if you like what you saw, leave me a lil' note, so I know you popped in and I'll enjoy visiting you in return. Hugs, Wends xxx
