The Christmas Rush
Where does time go I ask ya? My last post was December 2nd, and now all of a sudden it's the 18th! I have had my head down, creating and writing Christmas cards like crazy. There's no hope for most of them to make it overseas in time for Christmas, but at least I tried. I was so determined to make all the cards myself, so I have been a production line of CAS Christmas cards. Gone are my ideas for fancier designs, I just haven't had time! Coupled with my determination to make my own Christmas cards (which I clearly left far too late!) there are also a lot of birthdays in our family in December! So I've been madly making cards for as many of those as possible too. But today, I thought I'd share one of my Christmas makes, as before long, we'll all be tired of seeing those!
This sweet image is from the latest digital release from the Sugar Nellie range at Funky Kits. All the fairies in this latest 'Return to Winter Wonderland' release are utterly adorable and this one titled 'More Hands Make Light Work', is no exception. They're available for instant download, so you can get colouring straight away! My kind of wonderful! :)
I've coloured the image with my Promarkers and Flexmarkers and sprinkled a little Stickles glitter glue around here and there for good measure. Don't you just love the lil' Squirrel? I miss seeing them running along our balcony ledge in our London apartment. They really are such gorgeous little creatures. It's decidely weird that Christmas is days away and the sun is shining (we're thoroughly overheating at the moment!) and the days are long and light! Summer Christmas was always strange even when I was growing up and knew no different. All our cards and celebrations are based on the traditional British Winter Christmas! So coming back after 13 years in the UK and loving the Winter Christmas, this Summer one is taking some getting used to!!!
I really have been in mass production mode with my Christmas cards, so this was made in great haste with a minimum of fuss, which means not too much bling! Just a fabulous Panduro Hobby paper, which I used as the inspiration for colouring my image and the sweet paper flowers, which were knocking around my stash, one of which was glittered already so just needed a little bling in the centre and they were done. The sentiment has been in my stash for literally years, so it was nice to find a home for that. I thought the colours worked quite well. I inked the edges of the image and sentiment with some new ink I bought recently from a company called 'Close to My Heart' in a shade called 'Ruby'.
I'm not going to say much more, as I still am finishing up Christmas cards. How many of you are still putting together your last makes? Many to go? Or am I the only 'fly by the seat of my pants' crafter in these parts?!!
Have fun lovelies creating your fabulous Christmas celebrations, I may have time to post another card before Christmas, once all my post is sent off! But as we are actually shifting house over Christmas, that may just be a wistful dream! On that note, as I may not get another chance to say...
Merry Christmas to all... and to all a good night xxx
