The Wedding Box
I have a very special make to share today, which I made up for my darling British pal who married one of our best Kiwi pals on Valentines weekend. They are both such special people in our lives and I've spent countless hours putting together little treasures to help celebrate and commemorate their day. This one I made up for them to keep their wedding cards in. When I was going through posts for our Fab'n'Funky Challenges, I noticed we had the lovely Kathryne coming up as one of our sponsers and I'm familiar with her beautiful sentiments. So I knew I'd find something really gorgeous to make this a very special keepsake box. I chose the beautiful sentiment 'Dance~Love~Sing' from her range Stampart design by Kathryne which is available through Whimsy Stamps.
Our Challenge this week at Fab 'n' Funky is to use Spots and Stripes, which is a 'real' challenge when you're trying to make up a Wedding card box and all your spots and stripes papers are bright fun and funky! So I have improvised a little bit and used a base paper which has 'stripes' of wedding words all over it, and a gorgeous cross stitch pattern paper from Eline's House which is available through Cuddly Buddly in the UK. You can if you look hard, see a few cross-stitch stripes in amongst the lettering. I loved this paper to bits when I first found it, so was super excited to learn recently that Eline had released it as a digi-paper for those of us who missed it so much when it went out of print. There are several in the set, all gorgeous, so pop across to Cuddly Buddly and have a look. I'm so hoping she might release a few more!
Oh and yes, spots. I just didn't have any spotty paper that would work, so again, thinking outside the box (pardon the pun) I opted for some gorgeous pearl swirls, which was exactly the lush effect I was wanting for my darling pals keepsake box. I have to say, spots and stripes - nailed it! Just wasn't what you expected eh? ;)
The gorgeous pearl swirls are Creative Expressions from Joanna Sheen. I've cut one pack into two halves to use on this project, which worked incredibly well. I was really happy with the balance. I cut a butterfly from felt and added a few sticky back pearls along the centre and little pearl antennae. The clay hearts are from Live and Love Crafts. I just love these, and I think they finished this project so perfectly. I painted them roughly with an Adirondack metallics acrylic paint dabber in pearl. The loose flower petals I used to compile the flowers, muslin and doily are from stash.

I also had some gorgeous wedding paper which I really wanted to use but wouldn't work for the outside of the box, so I used it to line the lid and base and I'm so happy with how that came out. Here's a peek inside the base. This paper is one I picked up on a visit to New Zealand years ago when we were still living in the UK. It's from a paper company called Francheville and the paper is called romance words.
Thanks for popping in today. Please go and check out what my wonderful teamies from Fab 'n' Funky got up to for the current challenge. I know you'll be inspired and check in again soon for our next challenge and the fun I've been up to. Have an awesome week! I'm off to unpack the bags from the Wedding celebration. Hugs, Wends x
