A Vintage Farewell

Our lovely neighbours from the UK lost one of their parents recently and although, we don't really know them very well yet, we like them very much and wanted to reach out to them during their time of grief. So I made a CAS bereavement card, with a beautiful vintage Japanese screen image, that I've wanted to use for the longest time. It just leant itself so easily for this purpose and I was really pleased with how the card came together.

The image comes as three panels, which I separated and mounted on some card that I'd first given a teabag treatment. The originally white card would have looked too stark against the darker vintage hues of the image. I scored the tea stained card to create a border around each screen panel and then mounted the panels with thick foam pads to create dimension. I then mounted the tea stained panel onto the base card, which is a lovely heavyweight cream textured card. The three Japanese screen panels were edged with Vintage Photo Distress Ink before mounting onto the base panel.

All that remained was to add a sentiment and as I had scored the tea stained paper, I also scored the sentiment strip and tea stained that too to match the backing panel. The sentiment is a lovely one from The Pink Petticoat set called Simple Sentiments. A perfect choice for the loss of a loved one. Liz has some specials running on her lovely sentiments and digital papers, so pop on over and have a looksy.

I added a couple of folded strips of dark burgundy organza ribbon to the sides of the sentiment strip to finish. This was a very CAS card design but with a vintage touch. I hope you like what you've seen today and look forward to hearing what you think of it. Come back again soon, as I'll have another make really soon. Hugs, Wends x
