Dream Valley Favourite Colours
It's time to share my DT post for Dream Valley today and our new challenge is now live with a wonderful sponsor this challenge and one of my favourite online craft stores - My Mums Craft Shop. We have the fun challenge theme this time of 'Your Favourite Colour Combination'. Now to be honest, I could have chosen several colour combinations for this, I love Pink & Brown together, Blue & Brown too for that matter, Purple & White, Red & White in fact there are so many wonderful combinations, it's hard to narrow it down to just one. However I have narrowed it down to one of my all time favourite colour combinations, Pink & White/Cream. I love the fresh sweet mix of these two and I had great fun making this special card.
I've used one of my all time favourite papers here from the Maja Design Summer Vintage Basics range entitled 1921. I just love this paper and what heart palpitations I had cutting into it! This is precious 'stroke only' paper! I have to laugh at myself, but I really do love these papers. I wrapped a beautiful sheer organza ribbon around the paper, which was a gift from one of my baby sisters. It has the prettiest sheen to it.
The ribbon was too wide to try and make a bow with for this card, so I opted for the pearl swirls instead and I think that came up really nicely. These are from Joanna Sheen. The three lovely central blooms are Wild Orchid Crafts and the two smaller ones were a gift from another of my baby sisters. (They sure know how to spoil me!) The lace doily is from an everyday pack from my local supermarket and remarkably well priced too, so I was chuffed with that.
The sentiment is from an Amy R Stamp set by CC Designs called Love-ly Sentiments. I made this card for my lovely Aunt and Uncle who just celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary and I felt this sentiment was a perfect one to recognise the journey of their 50 years together. They're a special couple in our lives, always have been, but especially so since my daddy died, as his big brother is the closest my babes have to a Grandpa on my side of the family. So they're very cherished and it was lovely to be able to hand-make this card for such a special occasion.
I matted the sentiment circle onto a lovely bronze pearlescent cardstock. I cut the two small hearts out with a Fiskars handheld heart shaped hole punch. I struggled to know how to finish it, as the sentiment circle was too bare with only the sentiment, but I didn't want to swamp it with lots of edging and quite frankly couldn't figure out how to make a straight stamp go nicely around the circular edge! So I settled on two little hearts punched so that they were entwined. I loved the simple fix, it's one of my favourite 'spur of the moment' fixes and I may just use it again. I've used MFT Die-namics Stitched Circle Stax to cut the two circles and I've used a large square Lil' Inkers Stitched Mats die to cut the writing page on the inside of the Kraft card base. The pretty pink hat pins are from a blog buddy in England.
Thanks for popping into my blog today. I hope you've enjoyed the visit and do pop on over to the Dream Valley Challenge and join in with our 'Favourite Colour Combination' challenge. We'd love to see what you come up with! Stop in to visit my lovely teamies too, who've all made fantastic DT cards for the challenge. Until next time, be good, and if you can't be good, be crafty! ;) Hugs, Wends x
