Fab 'n' Funky - Christmas Bags, Tags & Boxes

The days are whizzing by lately. We've just finished Spring break here in New Zealand and before you know it, the kids will be finishing school and we'll be into our Summer Christmas holidays. But not before I've made a few more Christmas makes and the Fab 'n' Funky crew are keeping me on the straight and narrow with this. Our monthly Christmas challenges have really improved my stack of cards for the Christmas period. So just to keep the stack growing, we thought we'd throw in an extra Christmas challenge this month. A Christmas challenge with a twist. Our lovely Judith has chosen the theme 'Christmas Bags, Tags & Boxes'.

We're being sponsored this time by Stitchy Bear Digi Outlet, who have some really fabulous images, and so many that are perfect for Christmas makes.

I was thinking of the fairy who sits atop the Christmas tree as I was coming up with my creation, so chose to work with a gorgeous fairy image from Stitchy Bear called Spari Fairy.

I coloured my fairy with her summer flowers and lavender hair with my Promarkers and glittered her liberally, though the lighting was pants when I took the pics, so you can't see the reflection of the glitter too well. Her wand was done with Icicle Stickles, the wings with Diamond Stickles and her shoes were given a dusting of pink fairy dust (from my daughter's childhood stash).

I chose to make a box on this occasion as I made a Christmas Gift Bag for our last Fab 'n' Funky Christmas challenge. I have used a hard board pre-covered lovely red fabric gift box to make my creation. I used another of those lovely square doilies as the base layer, and chose Vibeke Spigseth's 'Tis the Season' paper from Panduro Hobby as the colour inspiration.

I love the way this paper set marries up red and purple. I would never normally go for this colour combination and it certainly wouldn't be my first thought for a Christmas creation. But having used it once before and really loved it, I thought I'd give it another go here, since my box base was red.

I used an MFT stitched circle stax die for the round behind the fussy cut fairy. It's hard to see in the photos the stitched edge because of the paper pattern, but it's there and just adds that little extra finish. I didn't add too many extra elements, because I like the way it looked with just the ribbon and the doilies. The sentiment was already on the paper, so I didn't want to cover over that with anything.
