Sugar Nellie Fairy Love

I have a card to share with you today, that I made for a wee friend of my son's. Zac went to her birthday party recently. They had great fun watching the latest installment of Kung Fu Panda. So Zac was full of those stories when he came home. She's a wee pal he made at Playcentre not long after we arrived back in the country and although they're at different schools now, we keep in touch. She's had a love for dress ups, fairies and all things girly and gorgeous since she was very small. So when thinking of which image I should use on her card, I naturally went to my Sugar Nellie fairies. I LOVE Sugar Nellie fairies and sadly hardly have time to colour them up these days as I tend to focus on my DT creations being a busy mama. So given the opportunity to work with an image of my choice, my Sugar Nellie folder is the first I reach for. This sweetie is called 'The Story Teller'. I used a gorgeous First Edition 8x8 paper from the Summer Breeze collection. I diecut the pretty shape with my Go Create Frilly #10 die. It's still my favourite. I diecut a second layer using a paper given to me by a crafty pal, and sadly I don't know which company this is from. But it had sweet little bunnies on the reverse of the paper. I chose green to mat the image, as I wanted to highlight that gorgeous wee grasshopper. I just love the sweet scene here as the pretty fairy and her grasshopper friend chat. I think this stamp is utterly enchanting and it may just be my favourite from the 'Return to Fairy Glen' release back in June 2013. I can't believe they're nearly 3 years old, they're timeless and beautiful. All the fairies are so gorgeous, I don't know I can actually say she's my favourite. So just between you and me. ;)

I coloured the image with my Promarkers and a couple of Flexmarkers. The above pic gives a better view of the sparkles I've added too. Some green Wink of Stella to the grasshopper's wings and antennae and I dotted gold Wink of Stella in the centre of the wee fairy's flowers. I added a few strokes of gold in her hair too, to add a touch of sparkle. I've used Glitter Magic to add a touch of shimmery sparkle to her wings.

There's another DT call on at Sugar Nellie at the moment. So I'm going to throw my hat in the ring again and see what happens. There's so much outstanding talent out there in blogland, that when the DT call comes around, I'm nervous to even try! But I love Sugar Nellies, and it would be a dream to get to work with these stamps as part of their amazing DT. So I'm putting on my big girl pants, finding some courage (after some encouragement from a dear blogland pal) and entering again.

I took this last pic in my car, with the card resting on the car seat. The light was hitting it just right as I was setting off to drop Zac to the party.
