Sweet Stampin' ~ Graduation Day!

Hey there lovely friends. We are celebrating Dr Seuss's birthday and with that all things inspired by him! I find he is quoted rather a lot at Graduations and it's fitting then, to share the creation I made for my brother in laws Graduation. I've had this in my 'to be posted' folder for ahem, months/years and just not ever got around to it, so I thought it perfect to pull this one out of the vault for this theme!

I love Elisabeth Bell images, I find them quite timeless, so to think this was made a couple of years ago already, and the image itself dates back many years before that! It shows how well these images age. It's one of my favourite images to use for graduations and there's a lovely one of Willow graduating too, which I believe is in Elisabeth's Digital Collection now. I have some many of her beautiful images now, both digital and rubber. I really do love her enchanting timeless style.

I coloured this fabulous image with my Promarkers, in the colours my brother-in-law graduated in. This image is such a good likeness for my brother-in-law, I'll show you a piccy at the end of the post. I added little details to this card which follow the graduation theme, like the tassle on the sentiment tag and the little graduation certificate scroll. I also added the year and month that he graduated, as I think these are nice details to immortalize.

If you follow my blog, you'll know how much I love to recycle everyday items, so the tassle that I used on this card, was actually from a pretty soft soap set I bought for the bathroom and that tag was so nice, I tucked it away in my 'hoarder's draw' to be pulled out for the right make! I think it works a treat on this card! I didn't bother covering the company details on the tag, as I thought it made it look a bit like a fancy company logo and was quite fitting for a graduation tag. I hand stamped the 'congratulations on to the tag, which bled slightly as the paper was quite absorbent, but still usable I thought.

I love the Dr Seuss quote that goes "You have brains in your head, you have feet in your shoes, you can steer yourself any direction you choose!" I think it's so perfect for graduation cards. I couldn't get my hands on a stamp of that when I made this card, but used the quote here on this creation for my nephew. I'm pretty sure I hand wrote it inside this card, but took this pic before adding any message.

My finishing touch was a mortar board die from Whimsy Stamps in the bottom righthand corner of the message page. I used a newsprint paper in the background which I thought fit the theme nicely. It was from that same set as the lovely argyle paper that I used on the front. They are from the fabulous Pixel Scrapper. I get a lot of my digital papers here, they're great papers and this set by Marisa Lerin called Oxford Paper Set #1, is full of fabulous masculine themed papers.

I hope you'll come and join in the fun with us this week. We'll accept any papercraft that either hat-tips directly to Dr Seuss by using a quote from him or obviously themed as Dr Seuss, or a Graduation card, with or without a Dr Seuss quote! So do come and join our fun this week. We'd love to see what you're inspired to do! I'll be back very soon with another crafty adventure, until then, have a wonderful week and happy crafting! Hugs, Wends xoxo

My Brother-in-Law's Graduation Day:
For those that made it all the way to the end, here's a pic' of my brother-in-law on his graduation day looking every bit as handsome as the 'Graduation Oakley' image! We were all so proud of him this day, he worked really hard, and in his final year, my sis' had just given birth to their second child, so he sat his finals right after his son was born having had very little sleep! Amazing effort and he did incredibly well too!

You're right, it's perfect for your Brother-In-Law's graduation!

PS - I just came from the Addicted To Stamps And More challenge blog and thought I should let you know that there is no image for your #67 entry, it just has your blog details. The link works and brings us to your blog post but no-one can see your card unless they come visit.

Hi Wends, thank you so much for checking in on me, that's so sweet that you've missed me, that means a lot! I took a short break from blogging while I started my interior decoration course but I've just not found the time to go back to blogging while studying. I hope to eventually get back to it at some stage. I hope you're going well. I love your graduation card, that scroll is such a perfect addition to the card and I love Elisabeth Bell images too.
