The Paper Door ~ Have You Stepped Through Yet?

Psst, I'm gonna tell you a secret... "There are only 3 Paper Door Kits left in stock!" So if you love this kit, don't wait to buy. The value is fantastic. Whimsy brought the price down compared to last years kits, but they are still packed with the most fantastic features, so are incredible value! The stamps sets are beyond gorgeous, the stencil is fabulous quality and really easy to use, the dies make popping these lil' guys up on makes SO easy. Seriously good value, no doubt about it and this lil' set, I have made four creations from, this being my fourth. I just kept coming up with ideas and ways of using it, so you know it's a good set when the mojo flows so easily!

I wanted to try something a little different with this creation. I've fallen in love with the whole 'distress resist' and 'emboss resist' craze that started a while back. I saw this done on the fabulous Jennifer McGuire's blog first. I'll link to her tutorial, as it's really fab! I loved the jaunty angle she used on these cards. I've used this same jaunty angle in several makes before, so was quite chuffed to see Jennifer's version in this distress resist post. You can see my previous makes here and here with this fun angled image panel. I used an older Whimsy die to cut the wee heart and stitching along the edges of my image panel for a bit of added interest.

I LOVE green, it's my favourite colour, so I pulled out some green toned Oxide inks (they're so creamy, swoon!) and coloured up this cardstock using the three tones, blending and mixing until I liked the colour merge. Oxides make this process, seriously SO easy! I used Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron for this blend. I didn't do any water splashes or other splatters of ink, as I just really loved the merge of colours and the creamy finish just as it was! I stamped the images in VersaMark ink and white embossed over it. I used the tiny stamps, the birds, the notes and wee word 'tweet' to fill the gaps. I've had a bit of a trick photographing this make, as during the first shoot, the light was super bright and the next few days it was so overcast! So the light in these pics is a bit hit and miss sorry. The inks look a little stark in the pics, in natural light, they have blended beautifully and look really lovely.

I used a fabulous waterbased ink to stamp this cute wee strutting fella on the white cardstock that comes with the kit. (It's actually Neenah Solar White cardstock, so perfect for copic colouring too!) But having done my Oxide ink blend, I had a lil' brainwave, remembering I'd bought this fabulous Kaleidacolor Ink from Tsukineko in shades of green. The colour palette I used was called Caribbean Sea and it was SUCH a fabulous match for the ink work I'd done. So there's me doing a lil' Rumpelstiltskin happy dance feeling rather pleased with myself over all this! Hehe. Right up until the point I decided I'd add a glossy finish to the wee tiger's eyes! The shot above, was taken 'before' I did this! The glazed eye look below, was after, meh.

I totally forgot the ink is a waterbased dye ink! So of course the eyes bled a little, not the look I was going for at all! But not to worry, I have a plan to salvage this card. I'm going to use the dies that come with the set, redo the wee tiger and pop him up on an action wobble! Hehe, should be quite fun. I'll update with a pic when I'm done, but I need to post this today as is, so forgive his funny eyes!

I hope you've enjoyed seeing what I've created with this sweet Paper Door kit. The images really are, so so sweet! Don't wait to buy if you like this kit, last count, there was only a handful of sets left! They're selling super fast!

This kit truly is fabulous. Not only do you get the cute wee tiger's in this special edition 4×6 clear stamp set “Tabby Tigers” but there's a great range of sentiments too in this stamp set. There's a second 4×3 clear sentiment set “So and Too”, with mixed size fonts. It's so brilliant for 'title' stamping, it'd be great for scrapbooking as well as cardmaking. There's also a coordinating “Tabby Tigers” outline die set and I love the Special Edition “Tiger Stripes Stencil” in this set too. The kit is incredible value at only US$29.95. The kit includes 24 double-sided sheets of exclusive 6 × 6 Whimsy Stamps designer paper. This paper is heavy weight cardstock and lush! You get 12 sheets of 8.5 × 5.5 heavy weight card stock in black and white too. You also get private access to pdf files with step-by-step instructions for at least 4 different projects too.

So come on over and step through the Paper Door, creativity awaits! Click through on any of the Paper Door images to head straight over to the Whimsy Stamps Store and check out all this fabulous kit has to offer. The kits sold out in record time last month, so if you like it, don't miss out. I'll be back again soon with another crafty adventure. Hugs and happy crafting xoxo
