Whimsy Stamps ~ I Only Have Eyes For You
Hey ghoul friends! I'm back with another Halloween crafty adventure. This time I've created a super fun set of Halloween treats. One a lil' jar of candy eyes and the other Halloween Candy Pillowbox.
I've used some fun Whimsy Stamps Halloween paper from their Hocus Pocus set, to decorate the lid of the eye ball candy jar. Then I stamped the Happy Halloween sentiment from the Fuzzy Spiders stamp set on some vellum. I added the tiny spider from the set and die cut the vellum to fit in the diecut paper circle. I added liquid glue behind some of the lettering and then tried to dry it flat, but it did buckle a little bit. A heavier flatter object might have helped stop this (note to self for next time!) I like the way the patterned paper shows through the vellum on this though, I think it's fun.
I made a little pillowbox Halloween treat container as the second design. I used the second largest spider from the Fuzzy Spiders stamp set. I stamped the spider on vellum and then added some white cardstock behind the eyes, so they showed white rather than see-through. I glued this lil' guy over some black stretchy mesh I had in my stash, which gave a slightly spider web like background. This mesh was from a candy bag and worked perfectly repurposed like this. I added the Happy Halloween diecut which I cut from paper rather than card, so that it would mould more easily to the bendy shape of the pillowbox. I kept it quite simple, but think this works a treat, or perhaps it's a trick?!!
The little tags on the sweet jar were cut from the reverse side of the paper I used on the jar lid. I think the black and white stripe was a fun finish for those tags. I left them plain but a name could be easily added to them before gifting.
Thanks for popping in today. I hope you've enjoyed seeing my sweet but simple Halloween treat ideas. They really were very simple to make and are sweet treats for Halloween, which is fab as we are not hosting Halloween this year. We have hosted friends for the past three years, but this year we are going to share Halloween at one of their homes, so these will be cute hostess gifts for that event. I'll share pics I promise!
We are still having fun over on the Whimsy Stamps Blog sharing our Halloween creations and there are fabulous prizes to be won, so be sure to stop by and join in the festivities! Thanks for popping in to my blog today and I'll be back again very soon with another crafty adventure. Hugs xoxo
