Easter Wishes ~ Whimsy Style

It's Good Friday here in New Zealand and I'm busy getting ready for a fabulous Blog Hop that I'll soon share details of. One all our crafty community can have some fun with and get behind, so watch this space as I'll share more very soon. But today, I want to share a little Easter Joy in the way of a sweet stepper card design. This creation has an 'Easter Egg', in every sense. It literally has easter eggs in the design, but it's a 'hidden feature' you have to hunt for! Which I thought was fun for kiddies.

I created a stepper card design using elements from a couple of Whimsy sets that were previously released as part of a Paper Door Set. I just love these cute elements and these cute bunnies make the sweetest Easter cards. I've created that cloudy sky using a fab Whimsy rubber stamp, that inks the blue and leaves the white clouds in relief. So clever and an awesome way to ink up a perfect cloudy sky scene! You could of course ink it in any colours you like though! Ooh, I just had an idea for a sunset sky scene!! Must do that!!

Part of my design was to create a fun 'hidden feature' that kiddies would enjoy as the 'reveal' when they opened the card out. So I've coloured some Easter eggs from the stamp set, trimmed them at differing heights and popped them in behind the front 'step'. They are playfully obscured by the 'garden' which I created purely from diecuts from the sweet 'Build A Garden' die set from Whimsy. Now this did involve some fiddly sticking for all the elements to come together, without knocking things over! But I think they look so cheery and sweet on the card front. I used a retired paper set from Whimsy called Pretty Pastels, which has some sweet spring coloured papers including the green stripe and ditsy pink design.

I tucked a couple of the eggs in behind the garden flowers, but the real reveal comes from opening out the card front properly to see the wee row of eggs hidden by the Easter Bunny! Bunny was coloured with Copic Markers and I edged her white border with a soft green so she sat on the green paper nicely.

I hope you enjoyed having a look at this wee Easter make. I wish you all a beautiful Easter weekend in your little bubbles and wish you safe and well. I'll be back soon with more details of the fun 'hop' I'm taking part in. Hugs until then xoxo
