Happy Birthday Denise!

Ooh this is a fun post. I've organised a little 'virtual celebration' for our lovely Whimsy boss Denise Lynn over on the Whimsy Stamps Facebook Page and I'm excited to see what everyone comes up with as a contribution. Denise brings such joy to so many people through her wonderful business Whimsy Stamps and it's such a little thing to want to give back just a little of the joy she brings to us all. So, I've put up an album, that folks who would like to share a message or a card be it old or new that they've created with a Whimsy image, can come and join with us to celebrate her day.

I've just been racing around the garden, trying to catch the sun to capture the pretty hues in this card. It's Autumn here, but today, we actually have a rather lovely day. So here are a couple of shots in different lights to show this card off.

I've used Distress Inks to create this pretty blended background. I diecut the paper after the blending with a lovely Shaker Maker Die set that cuts a central square and a frame perfect for shaker cards, but in this case, I used it to pop up the central panel on foam as a focal point and from some waste after the frame was cut, I diecut the Birthday sentiment from one of the darker ink sections. This sits so nicely against the lighter ink work. I turned the central panel 180 degrees to get the lighter ink to sit at the top with the darker ink frame around it. I thought this would be a rather fun look.

Most of you will know I'm not much of an inky girl, I love pretty paper so much, I much prefer to create with gorgeous patterned papers, but on this occasion I thought I'd have a little inky adventure. So I pulled out my Distress Oxides, Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron and had a bit of an inky play. Man oh man, do I love how this turned out!

This is what my fully inked panel looked like before I diecut it and I can't even begin to tell you how scary is was cutting into it, because I think it looked so lovely in its full form. You can see the water drops and ink splatters really well in this shot. The water was sponged through a spotty stencil to get that effect and then I just splattered some pearlescent spray on top. Not bad for a girlie who doesn't like to get her hands dirty! LOL.

This last shot, I was trying to capture the sparkle that's on the flowers. The centres of the flowers have a touch of Wink of Stella, which we all know is illusive in photos, but oh so pretty in reality. There's a touch of WOS also on the word 'wishes'. The leaves I diecut from an older Whimsy die which was a poinsettia set and another leaf trio from a current Whimsy floral die set too. The softness of the green vellum I really like with this make. Well that was a longer post than I meant it to be! I hope you'll come and join in the fun in our Whimsy Stamps Facebook Group celebrating Denise's Birthday. There are bound to be some very gorgeous creations shared in her honour!

I'll be back again very soon with another crafty adventure, but in the meantime have a wonderful week and stay safe in your bubble. We have moved to alert level 2 in New Zealand this week, so things are starting to return a little closer to 'normal'. Though I'm not sure any of us know what 'normal' is anymore! Hugs xoxo
