Sweet Stampin' ~ Bright & Beautiful
Hey crafty friends, I hope your week has gone well. We're kicking off a new challenge at Sweet Stampin' with our Bright & Beautiful theme. I hope that folks will come and play along, as the Northern Hemisphere moves into Spring, there's certainly lots of 'Bright & Beautiful' things in this world to celebrate! I've pulled an older creation out of 'the vault' for this challenge. I've been wanting to share this for a while, but never seem to get a chance outside of my DT posts, so here it is finally!
Coloured with my Promarkers and added to some fabulous papers from a Simon Says Stamp kit that had all the right elements for my lovely Swedish pal who's a real book worm! Man I love that gal, we are so completely different in so many ways, but our souls meet somewhere familiar, somewhere kindred. There are not many friendships you can say that about in life, but this one I can. So I wanted to tap into her loves when creating this for her, so it had to feature books, it had to feature coffee and a little plant of some sort. So this set from Simon Says Stamp May 2018 Card Kit was utterly perfect. If you'd like a closer look at the elements in this fabulous kit, you can check out the following video with the full reveal.
I just LOVED the elements in this Simon Says Card Kit, but especially the book-wall background because my pal has one of these in her house! Literally a wall floor to ceiling for books. It's her little slice of Heaven. So this paper was the perfect starting point for my design. The addition of the little succulents in the design was also very 'Carina', because she has a wonderful house plant collection too.
I found this sweet image from artist Alicia Bel in my stash, It's perfect for my pal and I was easily able to personalise it to look like her. The shorter hair was bang on and adding a stripe to her t-shirt made it very 'her'. It's very 'Swedish' to wear stripy shirts, you just need to check out Polarn och Pyret to see this! She introduced us to 'Swedish fashion' and our kiddos have both worn gorgeous striped shirts all their childhood from P.O.P and H&M. The final touch was to paper piece the chair, I LOVE how this came out and it took me a while to fussy cut carefully all the elements, but it was SO worth it! I popped the paper base up on some foam for a bit of dimension before adding it to the navy card base which I think just finished the design perfectly. The little puffy sticker and epoxy heart were from the Pink Fresh Studios set that were part of the design. I love the little extra these added to the over all card design.
Come check out what my talented teamies got up to for this challenge, these gals have such cool ideas! So you're sure to leave inspired. We hope you'll come and join us with a 'Bright & Beautiful' creation of your own. I'll be back again soon with another crafty adventure, in the meantime, have a fabulous week and stay safe! Hugs, Wends xoxo
