Whimsy Stamps ~ What happened to May?!

Hey crafty pals, I'm here, finally, with another Whimsy Stamps creation to share. This month has been weird! My poor hubby who I adore, had a 'nothing' birthday last week, because I was too early post op to organise anything, I couldn't leave the house, let alone drive to sort any treats, it all just snuck up on me too quickly! I managed to get our lil' guy Zac's birthday sorted and happily celebrated mid May, then 2 days later had my surgery and boom it was hubby's birthday right after. Sigh, this month has gone by in a blur of post op meds, healing sleep and birthdays uncelebrated. I say birthdays plural, because my baby sister shares my hubby's birthday! So two of my favourite people I'll have to make it up to. I also need to make it up to my lovely DT teamies, who've been holding the fort for me while I've been recovering. So today, I'm starting my 'catch up' of my DT posts. I will post these separately, so they both get to have a photo featured, but I'm running out of May, so they'll be back to back. Here's the first of my last two creations for this month, in an attempt to catch me up a little bit.

This enchanting lil' cutie is of course from the lovely Crissy Armstrong. I adore this sweet mouse, that adorable face and his giant strawberry, this just makes me smile so much! I loved colouring this cutie and decided after I had that he needed a bit of background interest to finish things off.

So I masked him off and got busy with some Distress Oxide Inks. I wish I'd chosen two colours that were a little further away from each other, because believe it or not, those narrow stripes and the broad stripes were done with two different shades! But they're so close in colour, that the contrast I was hoping for is a little bit lost. Oh well, I still loved the finished look, so all was not lost.

Here's the little cutie unmasked and looking oh so sweet. I'd let him have my strawberry for sure! Can you spot the little bit of mask I forgot to fussy cut out?! Don't you hate when that happens?! I didn't dare try to fix it, because that's usually when things go wrong for me, so my little white space remains, where there ought to be a bit of turquoise ink. A minor detail in the end.

I was so looking forward to using my new Distress Oxide Ink, Salvaged Patina, one of my birthday pressies, but honestly, it's so close in colour to Peacock Feathers, I was disappointed that my attempted effect didn't work out as I'd hoped. I had carefully masked off the large stripes, so that I could use the darker Peacock Feathers along the narrow stripes, hoping that the Salvaged Patina would be a much lighter shade, but it's really so close to the Peacock Feathers, the effect is essentially lost. But I do think the colour is just lush and really love how this made my lil' mousy 'pop'.

I used some cream coloured embroidery thread to wrap around the card a few times and then tied a simple little bow to finish that. I layered some pretty sparkly open weave fabric under the image, just for a bit of interest. This came wrapped around some flowers and was so sparkly and pretty, I of course had to save it to use on cards! The image is popped up on thick foam for a bit of interest and dimension and the layers for my design, were cut with my favourite Notched Squares Layered Die Set.

Thanks for stopping by to visit today. I feel blessed in a time when blogging seems to be losing it's appeal, there are still a few souls out there, like me, who enjoy the blogging process. I find it lovely to have these creative memories to look back on and chart my creative journey. I still find blogging a far more satisfying way to share my creations than Instagram or Facebook, so thank you, if you're still visiting, for stopping by and especially if you leave a comment, because then I know you have and it's lovely to hear from a friend and share a little in your day too this way. Hugs and happy wishes for a wonderful weekend xoxo

Super card Wends- the little mousie is adorable, beautifully coloured, and your inked and stencilled background is gorgeous in those vibrant shades of blue. Lovely texture here too!
I hope you're well on the way to recovering from the op- it's a shame about the birthdays but you can make up for lost time when you're feeling strong and healthy again.
Take care
