Sweet Stampin' ~ Lots of Layers

Hey there my lovely crafty pals, for a change, I'm ahead of the game for this challenge and I've had this gorgeous card prepared for a wee while as it was the birthday card I made for one of my darling friends here in New Zealand before our socially restrictive Covid days! We had the most gorgeous garden tea party celebrating her birthday.

It's hard to spot, but there are actually four paper layers beneath the image. I don't really 'do' layered cards much, as I don't like to cover the pretty paper too much. But this one just wanted to be made this way, so two base paper layers over the shaped card base and then a matt behind the image too. This is tricky to spot, it's at an angle and is the same shape as the image. Easier to see in a close up. Plus the ribbon layer too! So I think I nailed the theme, hehe.

You can see better the layer behind the image in the shot above, it's subtle but there! Sigh, how gorgeous is this image?! I LOVED colouring up her hair and I did it to emulate my stunning pal. She has worn a few hats in her lifetime, one of which was hairdresser and man oh man, does she always have the most gorgeous hair!

The other things this gorgeous pal does, is rock a vintage outfit! How stunning does she look here (image used with her permission) in this gorgeous vintage dress?! I have a real soft spot in my heart for this pal, she was one of the first friends I made when I came back to New Zealand after living in London, UK, for 13 years. We were 'Playcentre' mamas together and it was a very lovely friendship to make, one of those 'last a lifetime' friendships. With kiddos at different schools now, we have to make time to catch up, but it's just like picking up where we left off when we do. I thought I had some nice photos of the actual high tea, but alas no. But the china teacups were vintage and gorgeous and all the treats bite sized and melt in your mouth. A truly gorgeous celebration of my lovely friend.

Thanks for popping in today to check out this crafty adventure. A sweet flashback to a lovely memory for me. I really ought to scrapbook that party! I'll be back again soon with another crafty adventure, but in the meantime, I wish you a wonderful weekend and coming week. Do stop by the blog to check out what my teamies have been up to for this challenge, they're sure to inspire you! Hugs and happy crafting, Wends xoxo

Awesome card. And it suits your pal so well! You have a gift for picking exactly the right card for exactly the right person my friend. My card is still sitting on the sideboard in pride of place. No one is allowed to touch it.

Your friend looks amazing, she certainly does rock a vintage outfit! xx
