Whimsy Stamps ~ Sweet Fairy Tales

Hey there lovely crafty pals. I hope all is well in your lil' corner of the world. Ours has gone a little crazy again. New Zealand is back in lockdown and my daughter's school was affected, so we've been trying for the past few days to get her tested, but all the testing stations are overloaded. Crazy time waste, but hopefully can get seen later today. So I'm taking a minute now to catch up some things I'm behind on. So, here I am with my sweet fairy creation which has been ready for a couple of weeks, but I've just not had time to blog! She was such a cutie to colour up and I adore this gorgeous paper set from Whimsy, another of their specialist slimline paper packs. They have so many gorgeous designs now, especially for slimline creations. They really are enchanting!

This sweet fairy is the Bumblefee Fairy from our Some Odd Girl collection at Whimsy Stamps. The gorgeous background paper is from the Enchanted Forest Slimline Paper Pack. I just love this pack, it's full of really lovely forest and woodland scenes which make gorgeous backgrounds for fairies and other mythical creatures! I diecut the background paper for a bit of interest and dimension, popping up the frame on foam and building the design around this.

I used a Digital Sentiment from a fabulous Whimsy set by Bev Rochester, it is white on black, which looks lovely foiled. It adds a lovely bit of sheen and shine in this design. I have no idea why my main photos are so blurry, they were clear when I started editing! Very frustrated. But you get the overall gist of the design.

I added glitter to the sweet fairies wings and coloured her in the obligatory yellow and grey copics. This was fun and I used way more shades of yellow than I expected! My white gel pen was being a bit naughty when I did her eyes, so I will have to touch that up later. I was just getting blurry messes trying to fix it for the photos.

I created this lovely yellow matching envelope with our fantastic slimline envelope die from Whimsy Stamps. I'd been hunting for a while wanting a slimline envelope die and really wasn't overly impressed with other designs on the market. So when this came out from Whimsy, I looked very closely to see if it had what I wanted, which it did! The long edge opening, rather than narrow end. Putting this together is a cinch too, as it's not a complex design, it's very simple and really only takes adhesive on a few edges and you're done! I think it's fabulous to be able to customise an envelope to match your creation and I really love how this looks with my slimline card. I have so many 12 x 12 papers, that I'm unlikely to use up in this lifetime, so I'm more than happy to use up a few of those to make envelopes.

OH Wends what a worry - I can understand how frustrating it must be trying to get a test for your daughter. We have a "location of interest" here, which was a bit of a shock...
Loving your card - that is one wonderful paper, and the wee bumble bee fairly is such a sweetie
Stay safe
