Sweet Stampin' ~ Inspired by Fairytales

Hey crafty pals, it's time for a new challenge over at Sweet Stampin' and this fortnight, we'd like to see your creations that are inspired by Fairytales! I started this creation a long time ago, longer than I care to admit, but I wasn't happy with the finish and couldn't quite complete the creation until today, when I remembered that I had a fantastic die set from Whimsy that features some flying dragons! So my idea was born, to turn this fabulous Hannah Lynn Mermaid with her Dragon, into 'The Mother of Dragons' in a hat tip to a modern fairytale and the Mother of Dragons herselfDaenerys Targaryen. I'm sure it goes without saying, I'm referencing a modern fairytale ~ The Game of Thrones.

I had this lovely sentiment in my stash from Unity Stamps which was a perfect fit for this creation, so I heat embossed it onto black cardstock with Hero Arts Silver Embossing Powder. I used a lovely notched corner rectangle die from Whimsy Stamps to cut the sentiment out and added the fantastic flying dragons cut from textured black shimmery cardstock to finish this creation. I've used black net from a vege bag in the background for a bit of texture and interest. The gorgeous paper is from a Fancy Pants Paper set called October 31.

The little mirror frame I've had a long while, I don't recall the brand, will update when I find the packaging. I'm still unpacking craft gear, loads still in storage in the garage, (oh to have a garage now!) I didn't have any silver cardstock handy, so I've used tin foil for the mirror surface, which isn't ideal, as it shows the texture of the net beneath, but I'll cover that with a thicker silver cardstock when I find some! You get the idea for today's post at least. I was going for that fairytale, mirror, mirror, kind of theme. It's a bit disjointed with dragons suddenly flying around, but hopefully you can see past that and enjoy the idea of the fairytale references.

It was lovely to finish this creation today. I've had it 'part done' for so long now. I loved colouring the image, isn't she gorgeous? Oh and that dragon was fun to colour too! I've used Copic Markers, but honestly cannot recall the colours now, it was too long ago.

I hope you'll come play along with our Fairytale theme this fortnight at Sweet Stampin' and be sure to check out the other stunning creations by my teamies! I'll be back again soon with another crafty adventure. Until then, stay safe and keep crafting! Hugs, Wends xoxo
