Whimsy Stamps ~ Dancing Queen
Hey crafty friends, I'm back with some rather fun creations made with Whimsy's super groovy recent release! I must say I LOVE this release and these silhouette elements might just be my favourite! I've had the best fun with the gorgeous Retro Paper Pack and these amazing Retro Dancers Dies. Perfect combination! I have siblings that are amazing dancers, we all took ballet classes when we were younger, but one of my brothers is exceptionally gifted and I think the 'Born To Dance' card will be perfect for his birthday, so I'm tucking that away for him! I also had a fun idea to create a 'spotlight' for a Dancing Queen creation too. I remember sitting with my siblings watching 'Ready to Roll' when we were young and loving ABBA's Dancing Queen song. So this brings back memories! That card I'll save for one of my sisters.
Apart from working out the angle of the spotlight and colouring the vellum yellow, this was such a quick and easy card to put together once the idea was formed. The silhouettes will work with so many background options, I know I'll use them loads. They're just such a fun retro vibe! Check out the other designs from the design team in the store, they're amazing!
For this second card, I decided to use an iridescent cardstock to create a 'dance mirror' effect, like you'd see in Flashdance or a fancy club, but man was it a trick to get a good shot! It's more silvery in reality, but when the light hits it, it creates rainbow effects, fun and frustrating in equal measure, hehe.
I tried so many times to get a descent shot of this card, so I've used a few different set ups. Forgive the eclectic staging! But this way you can see the rainbow shifts in the background panel. I'll add a reel to Instagram that shows this card better in the next day or so.
I've used two fabulous papers from the Retro Vibes Paper Pack for these two cards and just love how they set the scene for each design. I really wanted to create these sentiments to work with each card, so hunted through my word die sets to see if I could create them from existing sets. I was able to for both cards which was fun, but it involved a bit of cutting and trimming and reshuffling of letters in sets to get the end result I wanted. Totally happy with it though! The sets I used are in the thumbnails below. I cut them from Spellbinders Glitter Foam in Black, which gave the perfect extra dimension and a shiny glitter finish, perfect!
Thanks for popping in today, I had such fun creating these Retro themed cards and I'd love to know what you think of them?! I'll be back again soon with another crafty adventure until then, I wish you a happy week. Hugs, Wends xoxo
(I use affiliate links where possible, which helps the companies I design for to improve their marketing practice. I receive a small commission, which costs you no extra whatsoever, but helps these companies see where their marketing efforts are most effective and is a way they can say 'thank you' to their affiliates and design team members. I only design for companies whose products I absolutely love and buy for myself. My opinions are always my own. If you're new to Whimsy please feel free to use the Whimsy Stamps discount code in my sidebar if you're doing some shopping and remember to check out their retiring section, the deals are phenomenal!)

You've captured the era perfectly with these fabulous cards. I always say that my generation is so lucky, we grew up at a time when everything was changing and exciting...and we had the best music- look how it's stood the test of time, my teen granddaughters love so many of the groups and artists who were popular then and know all the words to their songs. Both cards are amazing!
