Whimsy Stamps ~ You're A Mean One, Mr Grinch...

Hey crafty friends, I had so many cards I created for Christmas and I was on a deadline to get them ready for my mama to send to friends. So I didn't share all I created and have a couple left over which I'd still like to share with you. This fun creation, I would have shared earlier in the week, but I've been busy with other crafty missions. This card is not one I did for Mum but one I absolutely could not resist creating with because who doesn't have that 'one friend' who would resonate with this kooky dude and get a good giggle from this! I loved the Quick Cards Whimsy released before Christmas that were Grinch themed, so had to pull out this cute Dustin Pike stamp for a play!

I created a Christmas red background with Distress Oxide ink and some Mica Spray Stains. I started by ink blending the background with a fade towards the top, then stencilling some polka dots with a Whimsy Stencil and some Ranger Opaque Texture Paste for a fun bit of texture and interest, then sprayed the Mica Spray Stain over the top for a bit of shimmer and sparkle. Stills don't do this justice, but it really is lovely as the light catches it. I framed the scene with the fabulous Loopdidoos 2 Frame Set from one of the Christmas Releases last year at Whimsy. These frames are SO fun and a bit different, which is 'so Whimsy'. 

I absolutely love this Grinch character in his lederhosen, now of course traditional lederhosen are leather, but I couldn't resist giving them a little English Tweed twist. I think he looks so dapper and his self-satisfied grin at eating Santa's cookies, just make me giggle! I took this photo so I would remember the green combo I used for his fur and took it before fussy cutting the little section between him and the sign, so I thought I'd explain the 'holes'. I learnt this trick from another crafter and when I remember who, I'll update with that detail, but I thought it was such a genius idea! I've struggled trying to push my scissor ends through little enclosed areas that need fussy cutting in the past and I came across this tip that suggested using a hole punch to start the process, so you can just fit your scissor blade into that hole and start cutting. It's been a genius tip and so I wanted to share it with you all too! I have a few sizes of hand-held single hole punches, so I did a couple of little holes with the medium size punch, this is about half the size of a traditional hole punch, perfect for this smaller space and I have a tinier version again for those really tight spots.
