Whimsy Stamps ~ Hop Hop Hopping

Hey crafty friends, I'm popping in with a fun creation I've shared as part of the Whimsy Stamps Valentine's Day Hop. We are celebrating all things 'LOVE' today. So I've done a card for my hubby, which I will share later and two other cards, one which is a tongue in cheek card about my love for coffee and the other which is a sweet card to celebrate my eldest nephew's engagement.  In this post, I'll be sharing the details of my nephew's card.

My nephew and his lovely fiancée are living in London right now and I was sorting through this gorgeous paper pack a week or so back and just revelling in how much it reminds me of London. So when I was thinking of what to do for his engagement card, this sprung to mind! I've not met his fiancée, so I've made this card with my nephew in mind. I have plans for their wedding card to tailor it slightly more for his fiancée, who like one of my brothers-in-law on my side of the family, is Persian. So I plan to do something that will embrace that for their wedding card. But I just love how this card came together and yes, I've been singing 'Happy Together' while I've been creating this, (...and yes, it makes me think of Shrek, but that's a whole 'nother story!)

This design is absolutely all about those gorgeous papers! I've used pages from two different paper sets, which were released at the same time. I just love them both! The base plaid paper is from the Primitive Homespun Paper Pack and the cool village houses is from the Colonial Americana Paper Pack. I tore the edges, distressed them both with scissors and ink and added them to a top folding Neenah Desert Storm card back which I also ink distressed. I glued the papers down then wrapped some fine twine from May Arts around the centre for a bit of texture and interest. I added a diecut sentiment topper which I layered over some fine vellum so the 'Happy' diecut word could be read better. Straight over the background paper it was getting a bit lost. I used a deckle edge trimmer to cut the vellum and glued it to the main diecut before adding it the design. I really like the aesthetic the leather like paper added to this design too. This was a 'waste' piece left over from my Halloween box created some time back. I like to keep the little pieces of cool paper adventures like this. You may recall that make? I shared it here. I coloured it with a bunch of inks following a tutorial Tami Bastiaans shared. Her tutorials are amazing, well worth a visit to her Youtube channel. I completed this design with a twine bow and tiny paper flower which I added a little Ranger Liquid Pearls in White Opal to give the centre a soft pearly shine.

There's a fabulous $50 Whimsy Stamps Prize up for grabs too! I will be back to share another of the cards from this hop very soon. Until then, happy hopping! Hugs, Wends xoxo
