Celebrating Life

Wow, I'm on a roll! Three posts in three days! Unheard of for me.

Today I have a series of cards, which all 'go together' so to speak, as they were all given to family on the untimely loss of my hubby's uncle. Each is a little different, as they would all be seeing each other's cards. One in particular is a bit special, as it uses an image that my father-in-law painted. He had given it to me in a pack of cards that had been printed from his images. The layout was very plain, so rather than use it as it was, I decided to trim it down a bit and make a card up with it. I didn't actually ask my father-in-law if I could do this, so I hope he doesn't mind! But as it was intended for one of his siblings, I thought it would hold a special significance and be well received.

This post focuses on the first of the set, which is a very CAS card design. I used an elegant image from DigiStamp Boutique and a lovely sentiment I picked up at Ally Pally Big Stamp & Scrapbooking Show some time ago. I really didn't want to add anything else, as I think condolence cards are really best when they're 'clean & simple'. So the only extra detail was a score line around the edge of the cream cardstock to 'frame' the card, which was then matted on black Papermania cardstock and again onto a cream card base. Very CAS and I was really pleased with the simple but elegant effect.

The only extra detail I added to the card was a little glossy accents to the image for a little depth and texture.

The photos were all taken in different lights, so quite a variation on tones there, but the actual card colour is as this last shot shows, a lovely rich cream. That's all for now, I'll post the other cards following this. Thanks for popping in. Hugs, Wends xxx
