Fab 'n' Funky Christmas Blessings
Ever have one of those moments when you suddenly realise you've forgotten to do something you were meant to do and the last minute panic sets in? I had one of those moments last night! I have been so looking forward to working with this beautiful image from our lovely Fab 'n' Funky sponsor Delicious Doodles, but have been a bit poorly this past week, and between my son's 4th birthday on the 14th, that had celebrations spanning over a week and my hubby's birthday on Monday, a few things have slipped through the gap. But the Delicious Doodles images are so fabulous to work with, and this one being a 'scene' only needed a few snowy touches. So I managed to whip up a card double quick time. I wanted the image to look like a 'postcard' so I used deckle edged scissors to cut around it. I loved this image when I saw it, as it reminded me so much of our lovely red pillar box at our old flat in London. I'll share some of our snowy pics at the end of this post.
I am having printer issues at the moment. For some reason, randomly, my printer gives me 'sepia' images. Don't know what's going on there, but it's our old printer from the UK and I can't get ink for it here in New Zealand, so I think it might be time to let it go. But when this came out in this sepia tone, I must say I actually quite liked it! The track looks like dirt showing through the snow and the tree has a hint of the bark colour, the bricks would be reddy toned I'm sure and I thought the house looked okay in that tone too. So I decided to embrace the mistake and just add a little ink with my red and green promarkers to the letterbox and the wreath and tree. The rest I left as printed. I liberally added liquid pearls in white opal wherever the snow lay clumped. I was tempted to add a little glitter too, but actually loved the affect of just the liquid pearls.
I've added some gorgeous blooms from Wild Orchid Crafts. A white poinsettia and red open roses in differing sizes. I've used a lovely berry spray in the centre of the white poinsettia which is from Live and Love Crafts, one of my favourite stores for all things crafting shabby chic style. Some ribbon from stash with a couple of heart pins, a doily from stash and a really lovely tartan backing paper from the My Mind's Eye paper pad Christmas Wish.
The final touch for my Fab 'n' Funky DT card this week was to choose a sentiment that fit the scene here. I just love this Molly Blooms Christmas sentiment. I think it is the perfect finish to this card. I stamped it straight onto the Kraft card for a rustic feel.
Thanks for popping in to visit me today. I hope you'll be inspired to get on with some early Christmas crafting and join in our current 'Christmas Challenge' at Fab 'n' Funky this week. Do pop on over to check out the amazing creations by my fabulous team mates. I look forward to seeing your entries in the challenge and do pop back in again here soon, there'll be more creativity flowing as soon as I've got over this bug and my mojo's back. Hugs, Wends x
