Southern Hippie
I have had the best of times and the worst of times with this creation. I can't even begin to tell you how many different layouts, card shapes and papers/card stock I went through to bring this lil' lady to light. (Pause to wipe brow!) But I think what I settled on let's her have her lil' moment in the light very nicely. But for all the hassles I had settling on the right layout for this card, the image itself was a dream to colour (using my Promarkers of course) and I was chuffed with the finish. This cutie is Eleanor Hippie Chick from Lacy Sunshine stamps. They are our lovely sponsors over on the Southern Girls Challenge Blog this time and we were given quite a number of cuties to play with for this challenge. Go take a peep at the rest of the design team's creations, there are some really fabulous ones.
I couldn't get the lighting right when taking my photos this time, so the above pic was the best to show the 'shimmer' in the layout. The pale and dark green papers are both 'shimmer' papers and her glasses were coloured with a jelly roll shimmer ink pen in pink. I used a gold pen for the two peace signs, her pendant and on her trousers. So I should have had the 'shimmer' nailed. Why is that a biggy? Well because it's our challenge theme! Bring on your shiny, shimmery, glitzy papers, finishes and embellies and come join in the fun.
I loved the multicolour paper I used in this layout, which had so many perfect emblems and words on it for this card. I really struggled to know how to use it at first. When it was in it's square shape (it's 6x6 size), there was so much going on, it was a bit much really. So it occurred to me to go from the original 6x6 card I'd started making and move to a long card, which my new MFT fishtail banner stax would work really well with.
I wanted to have a little more of the fishtail showing at the bottom and the top, so brought them inline with the light green mat, so that I could cut them in the centre to extend up and down slightly. I wanted the words 'love you' to show above the mat. The image and three layers of Mats were cut with a lil' Inker's stitched square die. It's a pretty CAS design otherwise. I played around with so many different layouts, but this was the one that worked for me. It's a little quirky and different. What do you think?

I have to hunt down the brand of this funky designer paper, but will update that tomorrow. I need my bed now, it's after the pumpkin hour!
Thanks for popping into visit today. Love it when you do! Leave me a note and I'll catch up with you soon. Pop on over to the Southern Girls Challenge for our latest adventures and come join us with your shimmery makes. See y'all again soon. Hugs, Wends x
*Update: I've chased the sun around today and finally managed to get a bit of shine to show on the glasses and papers, so here are a couple of extra pics that better show the 'Shimmer'. I also updated the last photo above with a shimmery replacement.
