Sugar Nellie Love

Hi folks, here I am again, with another Sugar Nellie make. Yep, can't get enough of them! I just love these enchanting stamps and this one is a real cutie. The stamp is called No Shell Like Home from the Return to Fairy Glen collection from Funky Kits. One of my best buds in the UK has a wee daughter who is turning 5 very soon. A big occasion, as I still remember the early days for our two youngest. We had such a gorgeous journey together through those early baby days with our two young ones and my small boy still talks about 'my girl' when he refers to his little playmate who's now miles away from us. It broke both our mama hearts to separate these two. So I wanted to make something a little bit special for this birthday and you know it had to be Sugar Nellie right?! I used a Sugar Nellie for her big sister's birthday card recently too.

I coloured this gorgeous fairy with my Promarkers as I always do and then added some Glitter Magic just on the edges and veins of her wings, her underskirt and shoes and the middle of the flowers, just to add a hint of sparkle and magic. I find a fine glue pen really useful to get the very detailed lines of glitter. My favourite is the Sakura Quickie Glue Pen. I have had the same pot of Glitter Magic for probably about 10 years now and it's still an almost full pot - a little goes a long way - because I do use it, alot! If only my roller glues would be so obliging!

I've used a lovely worn wood digital paper on my Kraft card which I cut using my favourite 'Go Create' XXL die shape called Frilly #10. I love the tones in this paper, the mix of paint layers and the wood peeping through and the gorgeous die shape. It just works for me. It's from a lovely Raspberry Road digital paper set called Home for Christmas. I used a sweet Heart Doily which I picked up recently from Live and Love Crafts along with one of their gorgeous Bark Hearts. I've also used one of their Clay Hearts on the tag. The lovely Chrysanthemum is also from Live and Love Crafts, from their Wild Orchid Crafts range. The white tulips and pearl spray and also the seam binding are Wild Orchid Crafts too.

I wanted to try something a little different with the ribbon, because I've become so incredibly predictable with my 'double bows' (thanks Jak Heath), so I thought I'd shake it up a bit and use two ribbons! I had tied a ribbon initially on the tag, but there were just altogether too many bows when I did this, so I left the ribbon loose in the end and added the lovely Live and Love Crafts Clay Heart instead. I splashed a little pearl coloured acrylic paint on the heart as I don't own any Gesso.

I've actually used a beautiful guipure lace on this card too but it's sadly obscured by all the embellies. You see just a hint of it behind the pearl spray. Here's a similar one from The Ribbon Girl. A close up of the tag below shows the sweet sentiment from Zachy to his wee pal which reads 'You're My Sweetheart'. I thought it was perfect when I found it in my stash and the black and white worked well with the tag and sentiment.

The tag has been cut with a lovely Magnolia Doohickey Vintage Tag die. The stitched circle die is an MFT Stitched Circle Stax and the birdhouse in the bottom right corner is a Marianne Designs Creatables die called Bird & Fence. The lace and seam binding I wrapped around a thin card strip, which I edged with a Martha Stewart Doily Lace border die. You see just a hint in the picture above. I love this border die, I have several different ones, but this is probably my most frequently used border die.

The 'Blackboard' tag and sentiment are from a lovely My Mind's Eye set called Chalk Studio, which my sister gave me for my birthday this year. Talk about spoilt! It was such a generous gift from my gorgeous sis. So many fabulous pieces. I'm so enjoying using them as it makes me think of the sweet moment she gave them to me and the joy and surprise in that moment. The pic below is my actual stash. Spoilt eh?! She also gave me the washi tape from that same set, which I forgot to photograph here, but it's lovely and I've used it several times already.

I've so got to learn to write concise blog posts! I think I'll try to figure out how to do those 'taggy' things at the bottom of the post, so I don't use so much of the post banging on about each little element. Sorry if I've put you to sleep by now. Have a great weekend. We're already heading into Sunday after a day of Archery lessons for Georgie and Playcentre Bake Sale for the opening of a new kiddies park right beside our centre. The park is fab, with a flying fox and all! (Northern Hemisphere peeps, that's a 'Zipline' to you). See you again really soon.
Hugs, Wends x
