40 Days To Go...

40 days to go, 40 days 'til Christmas. 40 days 'til the big fat fella comes down your chimney and gives your pressies and DRINKS YOUR BEER! 40 days 'til Christmas...

A little ditty that get's sung on one of the local radio stations here in New Zealand every year. One of this countries most beloved radio personalities Polly Gillespie started this tradition a few years back. We sing it every year, counting down the days to one of my favourite times of the year. So I thought I'd share that with you today. I also thought I'd share a card I made using one of my favourite Christmas stamps from a little Scottish stamp company that I think is fabulous. I love Sugar Nellie stamps and this is a super cutie. There's so much going on in the stamp. I kept the card design very plain to allow the stamp to feature. I'm really pleased with the CAS finish and how it all came together.

I embossed the lower half of the card with a pretty embossing folder that reminded me of Christmas baubles. It's actually the 'Regency' damask folder that came with my eBosser. But I think it works. I inked around the edge of the image to give it definition against the background and mounted it on foam pads adding a little twist of ribbon behind for interest. A simple strip of pretty Christmas paper across the top and a wrap of ribbon and my CAS card was done!

I coloured the gorgeous image with my Promarkers of course. I'm a little bit excited today if I can let you in on a little secret. My new Promarkers have arrived!! The limited edition Autumn/Winter set and the colours look so lush! So you can bet my next card will be coloured up with these! I won a lovely prize from Joanna Sheen on the As You Like It challenge, so this was my treat from that. Coincidentally, the card I won the prize for was also a Sugar Nellie. 

I've added some glittery touches to the image with Star Dust Stickles and I also added some Glossy Accents to the lil' snowman, kitty and dog's noses. I used Christmas Red Stickles on the doggy's lil' Christmas bauble too.
